Transferring your inadequacy to the citizens is the worse thing a leader will do. Now that the subsidy has gone, what of the attendant poverty and army of poor people it has raised? US subsidizes petrol. Last year, exxon mobil and other oil giants got 11 billion dollars in tax write offs. States like Alaska, outside subsidizing fuel, also gives its citizens welfare checks from oil sales.

I can understand the need for the removal of subsidy in Nigeria. When politicians have looted everywhere, funds for subsidy payments became endangered. Tinubu cut it off. Yet nothing got down about the Nigerian budget been padded by over 500 billion. Nothing has been done to cut down the cost if governance.

Nigeria can't subsidize fuel for her people but the savings from subsidy removal gets looted again by the elite in power.
