t’s easy to see why some might perceive updates like this as bordering on propaganda, especially when the progress doesn’t align with earlier expectations or rumors in circulation. Companies like BUA, given their significant role in Nigeria’s industrial development, have a responsibility to be crystal clear with the public.

Now, they’re saying the refinery isn’t at 90% completion but that things are "progressing steadily" and "on track." The question is, on track to what exactly? Without hard data or specific milestones, such statements can come across as vague reassurance rather than substantive progress.

People are naturally skeptical because they’ve seen too many grand projects that are announced with fanfare, hyped for years, and then fall short or vanish altogether. Nigerians have a long history of dealing with unfulfilled promises, especially in critical sectors like energy and infrastructure.

The part about "verifying information through official channels" is fair—misinformation can spread quickly. But at the same time, shouldn’t BUA and other big players take extra steps to ensure their communications are proactive and detailed enough to prevent speculation in the first place? False hope only breeds frustration when reality doesn’t meet expectations.

The real test will be when this refinery starts delivering the promised barrels of oil daily and strengthens Nigeria’s refining capacity. Until then, it's all about action over words.
on the flip side,if BUA is not a public liability company nor a govt company, they owe you no information actually, just company out to debunk a false narrative is very much ok with me and a sign to others that might use their name to tell lies in the future, that this company will debunk you immediately if you say something that is not true about it's activities.

At this pace we will soon have more refineries than the supply of crude oil. Our conglomerates too like follow follow, because Dangote has paved the way, everyone wants to follow. How about investing in powerplants, recycling plants etc?

Either way, i have hope for my country, we have so much potential. I am immune to the Jappa syndrome, i die here.

Whether at 90% or not...
We Nigerians are only concerned about the reduction in the cost of PMS, GAS and Kerosene. It not compulsory we sell at the International price when we got our crude here. Apc government should start working on how inflation will be reduced to the minimal not until it is election period. God bless Nigeria
If the International oil companies IOC extract and distribute the crude oil, it will be at an international price. Then Nigerian government should start supporting Indigenous oil companies.
