Dear Nairalanders, please how can I go about this?

Someone came to my shop yesterday to get goods and in the process asked me to help him send money to an account, which I did successfully.

This morning, in the process of sending money to my account, I mistakenly sent money to that account instead.

Please, what steps can I take in retrieving or recalling the money?

You should just go to your bank customers service and make the complaint. They will advice you better on what to do

I transferred it from Opay to a traditional bank.

Why don't you contact the customer,if he or she can contact the third party ,for him to refund?

HOW TO RETRIEVE MONEY SENT TO THE WRONG ACCOUNT OR LOST TO SCAM

1. Get the Details: Write down the full name and account number of the recipient.

2. Find the Transaction ID: Check your bank app or SMS notifications for the Transaction ID Number of the payment.

3.Visit the Bank: Go to any branch of the recipient’s bank and ask for the Customer Service Desk for Fraud Cases.

4.Send an Email: Email the recipient’s bank and copy these CBN Fraud Desks:
•anticorruptionunit@cbn.gov.ng
•cpd@cbn.gov.ng
•contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng

What Happens Next?

•The account will be frozen, and the owner’s BVN blocked until the issue is resolved.

•They won’t be able to transfer or withdraw funds until they visit the bank.

•Once found guilty, they’ll sign a waiver allowing the bank to refund your money.
