Wrong. They were called that because there was a GLOBAL baby boom. The global birth rate was declining in the 1930s, that decline halted and then the baby boom began after World War 2.

Consider Gen Z. Their most prominent characteristic is concern for environment (climate change), and not caring too much about high salary or accumulation of wealth but about life satisfaction. In Nigeria it is the opposite - get rich by any means and yahoo and japa!

Then you posted some rubbish about Nigerian birth rate! What has that got to do with the conversation? (At least you acknowledged that Nigeria's birth rate was increasing, but that wasn't my point in the first place) I told you that people of that generation are called baby boomers because of a boom in GLOBAL BIRTH RATE. Do you understand the term global birth rate?

Basically, it's like you discovered that you were wrong and decided to through a bunch of red herrings to divert attention.

These are their individual characteristics. Has nothing to do with Gen. Generational attitudes are usually a result of something specific occurring - example, Tinubu/Buhari hardship and Japa mentality, or AI. At a time Japa mentality will go away creating a generation with a different mentality

Everybody knows that millenials are the generation of people that became adults around the year 2000. You can even see it in my first post. Everybody also knows that the term millenials is not limited to the West. For example:

Everybody knows that the term baby boomers is not limited to the United States or even the West (the recent popular reply, "OK boomer" originated in the Australian Parliament, not in the US).

Everybody knows that there was a global baby boom after the Second World War and countries like Brazil and Russia (and he himself admitted that it included Nigeria) experienced this. If he doesn't know this, that's his problem, not mine.

Everybody knows that many different people characterise generations based on many different things and that's why we have the internet generation, the MTV generation, the Indomie generation, etc. If he doesn't know this, then that's his problem, not mine.

Baby boomers, often shortened to boomers, are the demographic cohort preceded by the Silent Generation and followed by Generation X.
