The police command in Ondo says four persons were shot dead in the Owo LGA of the state during a clash between members of rival cult groups. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the police spokesperson in Ondo, said the clash happened on Sunday and lasted till Monday morning. “Four people have been confirmed dead. We can’t confirm if an APC chieftain was affected,” the spokesperson said. Odunlami-Omisanya said normalcy has returned to the affected area after the intervention of police operatives. According to a source in the area, the incident was a renewed cult clash occasioned by past crises between the groups in the area. In 2023, three people were shot dead in an attack by gunmen suspected to be members of a cult group in the same LGA. The attackers reportedly went away with the bodies of the victims. 2 Likes |
