A program was supposed to hold at 10 AM.
People trampled themselves between 6 - 7 AM.
So how is that the fault of the organisers?
The case won’t fly in court if Naomi and Co. get good lawyers.
May God console the parents and families of the dead children.

I game with the governor on this.

We should cultivate the habit of holding people responsible for their deeds. Good or bad, justice at all times.

Gov. Makinde have my backing on this.
Re: Ibadan Stampede: Queen Naomi, Oriyomi Hamzat Must Face Trial - Gov Makinde(vid) by MT: 12:07pm On Jan 07, 2025
This is a play.

The Governor appearing like he is prosecuting the two of them to the public. The public swallows the bait and believe. Everyone knows Hamzat is a paddy to the Governor. Then the case goes to court. Police appears in court and does not present enough evidence or prepare strong argument in court. The two of them walk.

The Governor says I do my own part but the court frees them. The public accepts his narratives.

Everything returns to the way it was. Sad story of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Mrfeel:
In his words
I want to make a heartfelt appeal to the government to reconsider this action. Acts of goodwill, even when they unintentionally result in unfortunate outcomes, should not be criminalised. This particular initiative was intended to alleviate suffering and bring relief to the people,” .

What is wrong if someone appeals for someone to be released? Must you obi haters attack him for everything even when you know what he said is the right thing to do? Thousands of Boko Haram members who kidnapped and killed people were rehabilitated and released back to the society we didn't hear any wailing from you APC paid urchins, what is the crime of that woman if I may ask what law did she breach ? From what I observe her only crime is leaving the ooni of ife , if she was still his wife we won't hear this
When you are driving a car and you unintentionally hit someone and the person dies, you'd be held for manslaughter. If you built a stage and the stage collapsed leading to people dying, you'd be arrested.

As for the question you asked, the charge is criminal negligence. It was the responsibility of the organizers that the health and safety of those they invited were not compromised.

They failed.

No one hates Obi. We simply ask Obi to allow institutions work and not play politics with everything by trying to ingratiate himself to people. How do you justify to parents who lost their children that those who contributed to the deaths are not to face trial? We can't run a society like that. We also charge Obi to do his opposition intelligently and not rile up a mob.

They should counter sue Makinde’s government in return.

[quote author=helinues post=133606142]Is the governor the judge in the case?[/quot

The case is being prosecuted on his behalf, village boy.

Case can't go on if the state/Makinde doesn't show interest through the state police commissioner.

Factcheck0001:
This is the question our igbobedients have been unable to answer since morning

They have been insulting instead of answering d question

There's one thing about all these igbobedients that I don't understand

Anytime anyone from West or north complains of hunger or poverty they are quick to mock him with the line

"Shebi na una vote tinubu"..... meaning those people are suffering because they voted tinubu right?

Meaning it's been certified by same people that many voted Tinubu

These same people u will see them in another thread cursing yakubu for collecting money from tinubu to influence election

Like I don't understand

Is it that people truly voted tinubu or tinubu just paid yakubu to do the job?
People voted for T-Pain, including Pandora Bitter Obi who voted for him indirectly.

jameshankss:
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has said he is sure the candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, would lose the 2023 presidential election. Soludo said he would not submit to the bullying of Obi’s supporters, who recently descended on him for addressing issues in the state.

The governor made the comments in a lengthy write-up personally authored, with the title, “History Beckons, and I Will Not Be Silent (Part 1).”

Soludo said Obi was inadvertently making the pathway to victory much easier for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and at the same time, toying with the destiny of millions of Ndigbo.

But the chief spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Yunusa Tanko, accused Soludo of being sponsored by some unknown persons to weaken the base of the party in the South-east.

The former CBN governor had been under intense attack for close to a week for dismissing Obi’s investment in the state as amounting to nothing, during a television interview.

Soludo said in the write-up, “My attention has been drawn to some of the tirades on social media following my frank response during an interview on Channels TV regarding the ‘investments’ Mr. Peter Obi claimed to have made with Anambra State revenues.

“Sadly, several of the comments left the issue of the interview to probe or suggest motives, inferred from my response on ‘investment’ that I am opposed to Peter Obi’s ambition and, therefore, committed a ‘crime’ for which the punishment is internecine abuse and harassment, even to my family.

“Everyone knows that I don’t follow the winds or one to succumb to bullies, or shy away from a good fight especially, when weighty matters of principles and future of the people are involved.”

Soludo said he had urged Obi to return to his former party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), to actualise his presidential bid. He added that he had always told the LP candidate to his face that he was not capable of winning the 2023 presidential election, especially, under LP, which had neither a councillor nor a local government chairman.

Soludo said Obi was not just his friend, but also his brother, but despite that, they have their political differences.

He stated, “For full disclosure, let me state that Peter Obi and I are not just friends, we call ourselves ‘brothers’. But we have political differences: he left APGA for PDP after his tenure as governor, while I have remained in APGA since 2013.

“During the last two governorship elections in Anambra in 2017 and 2021, he led the PDP campaigns but APGA won landslide in both elections. By the way, in 2016, he visited and proposed that I defect to PDP and contest the 2017 election against the incumbent Willie Obiano, but I declined.

“After my victory in November 2021, he called to congratulate me, as I did to him in 2010. That is the Anambra way: we fight fiercely during campaigns but share drinks at the next social events. After all, it was the Great Zik of Africa, who taught us that in politics, there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies but only permanent interests.”

Arguing that Obi’s presidential bid would only work in favour of Tinubu, Soludo said, “Indeed, if I were Asiwaju Tinubu, I would even give Peter Obi money as someone heading one of the departments of his campaign, because Obi is making Tinubu’s pathway to victory much easier by indirectly pulling down PDP.”

Obi, according to Soludo, would only deplete the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pave the path for an APC victory.

He stated, “The current fleeting frenzy, if not checked, will cost Ndigbo dearly for years. The South-east has the lowest number of votes of any region, but it is also the only region where the presidential race might be a four-way race (it is a two-way race in the other five regions) thereby, ensuring that our votes won’t count in the making of the next president of Nigeria.

I'm in full support with Governor Makinde.
Probably because you aren't able to judge things and reach a decision on your own.

What offence did people who just wanted to help the impoverished, hungry and beleaguered Nigerians commit?

The organizers triggered the stampede by themselves intentionally??

Or you don't understand how stampedes happen and that it has happened in several places in the past despite good security arrangements or that even the security men themselves when present can trigger off a stampede where there is a huge crowd of hungry and desperate people?

You are heartless. These people simply wanted to help their people who are extremely hungry. They never envisaged a stampede of that nature to occour but unfortunately it occurred.

Even the parents of the victims wont be this heartless because they know Naomi simoly wanted to help.

This incident is going to deter a lot of future philantropies and the greatest losers are the masses.

Yes they ahould have be more cautious and more organized.

So who is responsible for the death of the 35 children . Are we going to arrest the crowd that caused it ?. The organisers should have sit done and assess this risk and put in place measures to prevent it from happening. They were naive in their approach. They and the society should learn from it so that it doesn't happen again. This is how the society grow. Come December 2025 people will do it better. Otherwise worse than this can happen if no justice.

Did you even read before you comment .. I just trying to let him know that because someone died in a supposed Big Man's hotel doesn't mean the person was killed for rituals, of course that is not denying the fact that such incident do happen like the Otokoto saga . But then there was more than compelling evidence to proof the case.
oyo own no case because the parents of the children were the ones throwing their children over the fence soo their children will be in first position to collect gift from nominated ,otokoto or this

Let us reason well. You are expecting 5000, they should have asked the question what if more than 5000 turned up what do we do ?. It has happened before. They should have sat down and decides what remedy should they put in place. "Ore a ma da ibi " if we are not careful.

So, if you were them and planned for 5000, and more showed up, what would you have done that could have averted the stampede?
I read about the efforts they made to use the radio to ask people to stop coming.
What additional thing would you have done with that crowd, including that of the uninvited guests, there at the venue?

Everyone of them are so shamelessly tribalist, from the bastard of iragbiji to the hungry ones in the streets.

The position of a governor is not for idiots. The law exists so that people don't misbehave. On what basis should they be forgiven exactly?. I thought the Oriyomi guy can never do no wrong. He went ahead claiming someone killed a lodger for ritual when there wasn't evidence of such, now he would understand that the law is blind to anyone. After their conviction then they can be granted pardon. We won't make progress if we choose emotions over the law. Anambra and Imo or wherever will not make much progress if they continue is such ways.

Are you aware that tinubu was not voted for in rivers state.?

The people of the state voted for obi which wike later sold to tinubu in exchange for a soft landing.

Remove Rivers State votes from tinubu's total votes and check the results again.

And we are not even talking about a few states that were also sold in like manner.
