Such juicy gestures should be extended to federal civil servants. Many of federal civil servants retires and unable to access their gratuities after one year. Some of the officers die while waiting for their benefits.

I think it's unfair to neglect them and lay emphasis only on retiring Military officers.
May be, it's a way to checkmate their coup ambition with those juicy benefits.

No nation grows when a segment of the work force àre discriminated against.

Tinubu should look into this.

The headline is a bit too screaming, the media refuses to capture the broader issues of the Harmonized terms and conditions of service (HTACOS) but aims at achieving a myopic objective - conditioning the minds of the people to generate wider controversies.
Let's get to the meat of it, perhaps the summary of the intendment of the HTACOS. The purpose is to ensure efficiency in the management of the members of the armed forces. It captures the issues of promotion, welfare, health, and renumeration of members of the armed forces.
Also instructive is the fact that these terms and conditions of service is being reviewed every five years, the last time was in 2017.
For groups of highly dedicated servicemen who have been at the trenches of war for over two decades, I feel like they deserve every precious penny given to them.
Rather, the media failed to inform and enlighten the general public how the HTACOS cuts across the rank and file whereby every member of the armed forces are a beneficiary, the media only focuses on the retirement benefits for service chiefs. I think it's unfair to the entire family of the armed forces and our military deserves far more respect than unreasonable scrutiny in the media.
you keep defending everything! This is a country that pays retirees in the civil service after 18 months and above

In May 2024, Tinubu increased the consolidated salary of public servants between 25% and 30%. If you want to receive the retirement benefits, join the military and use your chest to collect bullets for Nigeria rather than being a keyboard warrior.

-Kiss the truth!
Bro ignore them whoever not happy with the milllitary packages can go to court. If the govt refused to give them anything same losers will insult the govt.

Bro loser have no joy "they are cteated miserably, born miserable, fed miserably and live a miserable life", so ignore them.

I'm pleased to announce the increment in allowance for two brainless Bulaba Keyboard Warriors - Hell-anus and his brother Yamumu.
Their monthly data allowance has been raised to N18,900 from N15,000.
Congratulations!

Can you list their achievements on the security landscape of Nigeria for those two decades? This will help buttress your points and maybe justify these very outrageous severance packages.

There's no good reason to join army if you are getting in as a commissioned officer

One film referred to the recruits as expendables

is it the job of the military to "keep the country going despite overwhelming security challenges"?

even if it was their job, are they the only ones keeping the country going?

This bot doesn't know the meaning of a review. Salaries, wages and retirement benefits are frequently reviewed, that's the standards.
