They could easily end the wildfires by replacing the trees, which are highly flammable because of the volatile oil that permeates them, but they don't. The Australians are in exactly the same situation. It's utter madness that California and Australia keep fighting the oil fueled fires every year and risking lives instead of just getting rid of the accursed trees.

Wow, the flammability of eucalyptus trees is an unexpected property to me as a layman, but it is even more surprising that officials in Australia and California thus far haven't demonstrated a willingness to address that particular elephant in the room. The choice of ground cover selected for the sides of California's freeways, for example, can be just as baffling.

That purple-flowered plant most often selected by California authorities as freeway embankment planted ground cover called oleander, is known to emit highly poisonous smoke when set alight. There have been several recorded instances where homeless people or illegal immigrants camping illegally beside California freeways were poisoned to death by the smoke of dry branches from that ground cover plant that they used to build campfires for warmth at night or to cook in their hidden encampments right alongside major freeways plied by thousands daily.

The thought of evacuating from a fire by driving the freeway, where one might succumb to the toxic smoke billowing from mile upon mile of burning poisonous plants, is a hellish predicament to even think about. So sad to see the picturesque bluffs of Pacific Palisades and the fabled Malibu canyons aglow in ghastly orange hues under the relentless advance of this unstoppable wind-whipped mega-fire that remains out of control at the time of this writing on January 9th, 2025.

This raging conflagration is utterly heartbreaking to see, yet, it has long been evident that global warming's intensifying effects are wreaking their toll with particular vengeance on the US West Coast's Sierra Nevada foothills, all the way from the Mexican border at Tijuana, clear on up through the entirety of California and northbound through Oregon into Washington State.

Those fires do not start themselves. They are deliberately started by people, aided sometimes with the use of directed energy weapons. Do not be fooled.

You do realize though that Eucalyptus are not the only trees & you also need to look up the different causes of wildfires in the US. Lately, wildfires have started in the US East coast as well.

You are partially correct with this claim that fires GENERALLY don't start on their own, but you've forgotten that there are several ACCIDENTAL sources of ignition capable of starting massive fires, that cannot be ignored as possible culprits when wildfires erupt.

Lightning that is NOT accompanied by wet weather, also known as "dry lightning", has been known to start fires in Southern California and other locations worldwide.

Sparks emanating from the tail pipe of passing vehicles, or from bulldozers working to clear fire breaks, can also start fires that quickly spread to engulf square miles.

Carelessly discarded cigarette ends can easily start fires in dry conditions long after the smoker has left the area and forgotten all about that discarded cigarette end that was still smoldering.

A tree falling on live power cables can also ignite rapidly spreading fire outbreaks during dry weather.

One could cite additional fire triggers that are unintentional, but the above few scenarios all taken from very recent history, are sufficient proof that it doesn't take arson or man-made weather phenomena to start a fire when the entire landscape is tinder dry and ready to erupt in flames.

The complete removal of eucalyptus trees would be logistically challenging, environmentally controversial, and not guaranteed to prevent wildfires. Fire management involves a broader strategy including controlled burns, vegetation management, and urban planning.
