But seeing that it was during a one on one teaching session which probably was the teacher going extra mile to help him get his work right, I as his parent won't be too mad at her. He didn't sustain any injury nor was he crying as to show excessive pain. This shows that there was a level of restraint from her although her actions are unacceptable.
There was no shouting, insults or cursing from the teacher. This shows she was still collected and in control of the situation despite not getting the expected result from the kid. She's at fault though and more should be demanded from her but it shouldn't be an overkill.
Prejudice and sentimentality can make one alter proportionate judgement. Intentions and actions are things a good judge consider before delivering a verdict.

rot in the Nigerian system of education allowed for this in the first place. If not for the crazy chase for money what should a 3 years old child looking for in school? What happened to 6-3-3-4 system of education? We are all mad in this country. I don't blame the devilish woman for slapping the boy in a way she will no slap her 8 years old at home. I will rather blame the useless parents who are buying time by dropping the child in a place in shouldn't be in the first place. The woman and the child's parents should all be arrested but even the country is lawless. I pray that boy doesn't have ear problem in the future.

It's easy to judge another person when you're not in their shoes. I believe the teacher must have had her record in the school. If it says she's a habitual brute, then it can be concluded that she isn't fit for the job but if not, then she should be queried and left to continue her job. Working with kids can be tough. Passing through the Nigerian schools, things like this aren't rare to find. It shouldn't be condoned but what I saw in the video isn't a scenario that warrants a state punishment yet.

Your problem is that you're just too emotional. Go and reread what I wrote again. I didn't justify her action in any way. I CONDEMNED IT entirely. My main focus is on how she should be disciplined. From the video I saw here, my judgement was that there wasn't any malicious intent from her to harm the child. She continued teaching the child and didn't show extreme signs of frustration. These are things to consider when judging her.

You are right. Igbo women and child cruelty are like siamese twins as long as the child is not theirs.

That's physical abuse there. And such physical trauma to a child's head has potential complications; imagine hitting a child with a seizure disorder.

Common sense would suggest the woman is a recalcitrant abuser, making it possible for her actions to be captured on camera; her actions were expected.

Maybe CCTVs in classrooms would soon become a necessity.
