Despite the Federal Government’s multi-billion-naira border surveillance systems launched in 2019, illegal migrants, some of whom have been identified as bandits, terrorists and kidnappers, continue to cross into Nigeria from the Republics of Benin, Chad, Niger, Mali and Cameroon.https://punchng.com/fg-n9bn-e-border-project-fails-to-stop-bandits-illegal-aliens/

How will it stop terrorism when those who projected the scam are dishonest, corrupt & lacks the Nigerian mandate to make it work. The only sure thing is that the funds earmarked for the scam has been looted propably to buy more sophisticated weapons for terrorists. Una dey play too much for nainja |

All we needed are physical barricades with large gates. Border Fencing and Walls is what is used in countries where they are serious about security. |

E-Borders? In the North? Where in places like Lagos and Abuja, aboki iron condemn dealers regularly vandalize those extremely thick streetlight and transformer jumper cables, is it now in their domain in the North, in the midst of extreme poverty that those kind of equipment will be allowed to stay and work? Expect all those surveillance units, CCTVs, cables, and electronic monitoring systems to be gone soon. E-borders are for a serious country, one where the citizens are adequately educated and have not been exposed to weaponization of poverty and hunger by their thriving elites and kleptocratic political leaders. |

Abdullahi said, “Although the border posts have been closed since 2020 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari to beef up security,If security at the border has been beefed up all this while, how then do tankers make it through the same border? |

Problem is that most folks in the North consider those "illegal immigrants" as their cousins & relatives. |

Kuginzi:It's only the first phase that's been completed, the overall will be completed in 2026. Media should get their facts right and stop this nonsense. |

Hi everyone, please you are being misinformed by the media. This project is still under implementation, So, it's too early to tagged it a failed project. The pilot phase started in 2014 at Illela in Sokoto state, and the main phase did not commence till 2022 due to some constraint with the financing. Delivery is on track presently with just a few locations completed so far. Although, even after the completion, it might not be possible to cover the whole thousands of Kilometers but be sure it would reduce the menace of insecurity and infiltration of illegal migrants. The aim is to extend the surveillance systems along the border Hotspots and other unmanned boarder locations. 5,000+Km Borderline is no joke and obviously the surveillance cameras would not be able to go round practically but sure it would help the NIS in border security management efficiency. Do not believe everything you read in the media and try to do a bit of research on any discourse of interest. Nigeria shall be great again! |

Kuginzi:big promises, massive budgets, but poor execution. It’s no surprise illegal crossings continue if the e-border system isn’t fully functional or practical.Plus, with such vast borders, technology alone can’t fix the problem without proper ground support. Poor welfare for security operatives also makes it harder to enforce policies effectively |

It's not too long that the project was implemented, maybe we give it some time. But I definitely understand that everything in Nigeria is treated with high skepticism. E-surveillance covering over 5,000km is no joke, and until strong political will supports resources, it will be difficult to reduce the flow of bad actors, especially through the Northern border. Ask the US and their Southern neighbor. |

Ecowas doesn't recognize illegal immigrants. Policies take time to yield the desired results normally. Beware of anarchists pretending to be interested in National progress. |

“Despite the border closure and the e-border control system installed by the Federal Government to stop illegal immigration into the country, which are all moves by the government to ensure security, the people from the Benin Republic who are our neighbours still crossed the border. Mmmmm |
