My partner and I got married legally in the UK. We are planning to do a Nigerian wedding now.
Please are we legally allowed to do a court marriage in Nigeria again? We understand the first marriage certificate from UK will be the valid one, but can we conduct another ceremony in Nigeria?

You can celebrate your union in Nigeria, but I won't advise you do any court marriage down here.....the one you already did in the UK supersedes whatever you want to do down here.

You are both already married but want to do a Nigerian wedding while also signing legal marriage documents? For what purpose? undecided

If all you want is a Nigerian wedding ceremony without needing to sign another marriage certificate, I can understand that. But wanting to sign another marriage certificate...what for? undecided

Well we got married without informing family we were getting married. Now family is involved and we don’t know how to explain why we are not doing a court marriage.

You can do your traditional wedding and leave it there.

Which one is you don't know how to explain you're not doing a court marriage??
When did a court marriage become compulsory in Nigeria, and something that must be enforced by parents?
Nawaoo. All these over pampered kids!

Obviously your wife is the one controlling the marriage.
