Some fulanis are indigenous to oyo sha. Some hv settled there since 16th century, just like how most US citizens hv German ancestry

Another Canada-based electee to a traditional stool?

I hope he wont turn out to be like that culturally-confused, former Yahoo boy and Igbo-smoking Canada returnee who now claims to be the Sultan abi Emir of Iwo kingdom.

I wish him the best

Not in Benin kingdom.
ednut1:
Governors can sack and appoint kings then it should be scrapped. Alafin and other kings in Nigeria surrendered their sovereignty to the white man , some fought and still lost to the same white man. We are wasting state funds to cater for these numerous kings which is bs. The British monarchy is still there because they generate billions in tourism. What do these kings generate?

How do the Alaafin of Oyo impact the lives of the citizens
Every traditional ruler is a custodian of his people's tradition and culture. He is a point of reference to the history of the people. His stool is historic and a relic of what defines his people's ways of life.

That's why traditional rulers exist in all corners of the world till today.

I pray he stays black.

Bleaching should be discouraged--a clear deviation from his predecessor.

culture is getting allocated scarce state funds? Culture where the kings are flaunting rolls royce in the midst of hunger. Culture wey no dey generate any money. Abeg abeg
Yes bro...but that is still our culture and I won't have that thrown away because of just money. These kings represent 100s of generations of our culture and they have the traditions that bind us to our roots. You would prefer kings of Benin, Oyo and Ife to be deposed and the palaces empty? That's the little we have now as so called westernization is ravaging our lives and eroding us of our identity. The whites conquered us by defeating the empires of old. Should they also conquer us by making us abandon our roots? Do you know the Benin wall was 10000 miles long and 4 times longer than the wall of China? Such facts are lost because we don't care about our history.

I don't ever wanna be like the black Americans or even the Canadians who have no idea of their history. Being black is not just a skin color, it's an identity, an emblem, a story woven about our struggles, our experiences, our way of life. I will NEVER WANT ANYTHING TO ERASE THAT. They are allocated resources and they buy rolls Royce? Yeah, let them have it. Kings of old would have claimed everything, including your wife. 🙂

lagos to uk by car is 7,000 kilometres. But you are claiming benin wall was 10k miles which is 16k kilometres. There are pictures of the benin expedition loot why are there no pictures of the said wall? It was a mud moat not a wall. The ancient walls in kano and sokoto still exist today

Makinde Approves Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade As New Alaafin.

Prince Lukman Adelodun Gbadegesin, who had been selected by the Oyo Mesi will no longer be the Iku Baba Yeye.

Gov. Makinde should not destroy the great Alafin empire.
Gbadegesin has so many garbage around him. Many allegations of fraudulent activities. I knew Makinde won't approve him.

It seems he knows what he is saying. We should wait for further information from the Oyomesi council themselves. Firstly, we know they are searching for new Alaafin. For him to have mentioned the name of Prince Gbadegesin shows he has an information.

That throne is very spiritual to the Yoruba race worldwide.

The Yorubas are divided. Seriously divided. Alaafin Adeyemi left at a very strategic time he was needed most. The statement released by the OHANEZE NDIGBO after the emergency of Tinubu as APC Flag bearer wouldn't have gone without response if Alaafin Adeyemi was alive.
And did their statement stopped Tinubu?.
Ati ahun ati ejo eran jije.
Eni ti o to nii na to nde ona deni, where are they in the scheme of things today?.
The new Alafin will have serious business to ran, especially in Iwo.

why is there no actual picture of the benin wall that you claimed is 10k miles na. To penetrate a wall you need to destroy a section of it. The remaining parts go still dey lol. So where is the remaining benin wall o
