| How Is It That Three Ikwerre Men Are Laying Claim To Ohanaeze Presidency? by gidgiddy(op): 11:58am On Jan 11, 2025*. Modified: 2:21pm On Jan 11, 2025 |
I was excited when Ohanaeze announced that it's Presidency would be moving to Rivers State In 2025. That excitement is now turning sour. In 2008, Ohanaeze Presidency moved to Delta State, Ambassador Ralph Uwechue, a native of Ogwashiuku, was elected. It then moved to Ebonyi State, Eze Gary Igariwey was elected. It moved to Enugu, Nnia Nwodo,a native of Nsukka, was elected. It moved to Imo, Ambassador George Obiozor was elected, he died, Iwuanyanwu replaced him. It was all peaceful until it moved to Rivers State, and it became thug of war. Today, three Ikwerre men are laying claim that they are Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General On 5th of January, one of the contestants, Chief Jackson Omenazu, a native of Rumuokwurusi in Obio/Akpor LGA, held elections somewhere in Rivers State, and claimed to be the newly elected Ohanaeze President. On the 9th of January, another Ikwerre man called Barrister Uche Okwukwu, a native of Elele, held his own elections in Portharcourt, and claimed to be the new Ohanaeze President Then elections in Enugu on the 10th made another Ikwerre man, Senator Azuta Mbata, Ohanaeze President. Three Ikwerre men are now laying claim to Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General!. This is madness! Never have I heard that Ohanaeze had two seperate Presidents, let alone three The Ikwerre nation should call their sons to order, this is show of shame that will only bring division. The position of Ohanaeze President General is only for one person, not three! |

I believe everything will fall in place with time, don’t fall for the propagandists who want to sell a narrative that there is a factional president…the good thing is that all of them are all from rivers state and are igbos, they have used their own hand to declare their identity…now they can’t claim not to be igbos. |

There is only one Ohanaeze president, the one elected in Enugu, which is the headquarters of Ohanaeze. Rivers state government sent a delegation to Enugu for the election other delegates also arrived from all other Igbo states across SE, SS and NC. It's even amusing how the same Ikwerre where some of them habitually claim not to be Igbo are now the ones dying to be Its president. Anyways, they should grow up and act maturely or be called to order. Ohanaeze is the Apex Igbo cultural organisation worldwide and can't be drawn into all these childish tantrums by some ikwerre renegades. Delta state has more diverse Igbo tribes than Rivers state if I'm not mistaken yet their tenure was so smooth and Ralph Uwuechue was a dignified man. |

Igbo's should restrict their Ohaneze title to 5 South East states and stop being used by the Igbo'a in South South who always remember being Igbos when something is at stake like Ohaneze title |

The position of Ohanaeze president is, without question, the pinnacle of influence any Igbo man can attain. It is a seat of immense influence, commanding the loyalty and respect of the Igbo elite and granting direct access to the corridors of power in the marketplace, business world and government circles. With over 50 million highly resourceful, fiercely intelligent, and exceptionally dynamic igbos worldwide looking to you for vision and leadership, the weight of this responsibility is unmatched. It is not a role for the faint-hearted or the ill-prepared—it demands vision, strategy the very grace of God and the unrelenting capacity to command the respect of one of the most dynamic people on the face of the planet . I wish the next president General of ohaneze will start his tenure with Thanksgiving and seeking the face of God for this immense task. His needs all the wisdom he can muster through grace |

Streetinvestor2:I have seen firsthand the intricate machinery of Ohanaeze at work. Let me tell you this for free —anyone romanticizing Biafra as the ultimate destiny for the Igbo vastly underestimates the sheer magnitude of the Igbo Commonwealth as it truly exists today. With its unparalleled wealth, intellectual might, global spread, and influence, the Igbo nation, as it stands, dwarfs anything a hypothetical Biafran state could ever aspire to be. The corridors of power within Ohanaeze's Imeobi are not just where decisions are made—they are the nerve center of Igbo supremacy, unknown and unfathomable to the average Igbo man. There are truths too seismic to utter here. Clamoring for Biafra is like a lion—the king of the entire jungle—choosing to retreat into a cage of lions alone. It is self-limitation masquerading as liberation. Why should the monarch of all creatures forsake its throne in the vast jungle, where every being pays homage, for a narrow kingdom of sameness? It is not just shortsighted—it is the abdication of destiny. |

Streetinvestor2:The Imeobi is not just a gathering—it is the brain trust of the Igbo race, the beating heart of strategic thought and action. It serves as the crucible where the sharpest minds and the most formidable intellects of Igboland converge, shaping the future of igbos. Some of the most extraordinary Igbo figures in history have been in imeobi meetings. Consider Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a real civil Engineering marketplace guru. He took Hardel and Enic—a crumbling foreign-owned venture—and transformed it into a civil engineering colossus in the 80s . This is a man who did not just thrive in adversity : he fought during the civil war, displayed loyalty to Biafra cause. Tell me, what unparalleled devotion, what indomitable spirit, could we ever hope to replicate? The Imeobi is made up of such legends. It is not merely a council—it is the very soul of Igbo greatness, and to underestimate it is to misunderstand the essence of what it means to be Igbo. |

gidgiddy:.from this your detailed account I can see that the authentic president of ohaneze is senator Azuta Mbata. Though I am not comfortable with the allegations that he is an establishment man, and worst still a tinubu ally. I hope senator Azuta Mbata will prove people wrong and standout as the best ohaneze president so far. I wish him all the best. Congratulations to Ikwerre people of Igbo land Congratulations to Igbos in general. Let other candidates soft-pedal and support Azuta Mbata for the good of our Igbo home land |

Thewrath:You mean those three presidents? Yes, they can't deny. But if you mean all Ikwerres, then you are so wrong as nobody can forcefully define another person or group's identity for them. |
| Re: How Is It That Three Ikwerre Men Are Laying Claim To Ohanaeze Presidency? by Thewrath: 4:48pm On Jan 11, 2025 |
Xisnin:It has never been a question of who are ikwerres…but rather a reaffirmation of their roots, which was stolen and politically forced on them…they speak igbo,if you like call it ikwerre,it’s still thesame language and every igbo man understands and can speak it! They also bear igbo names which is another affirmation of their roots! Now ohanaeze leadership has gone to them same way it went to delta state, anyone who is not happy about igbos in SS affirming their roots should go and redefine their history again like they did before. Igboland is and can never be five states! |
