Not at all. Although it depends on taste, but the thing is your taste must change as you see more funds. In today's Nigeria, one needs at least 2.5m- 3m monthly to live a comfortable life. Real comfort, not mago mago comfort. |

That's nature of human being for you, most especially Africans. Only death that can satisfy us. Some nairalanders wey never receive 100k from a job/work in their lives will also argue it that the money is small. |

even if its enough now, within just a few months it wont. All african countries are run by the white man, who has ensured all African currencies are a form of theft by government from its citizens through massive inflation. The rate at which the very racist colonial Nigerian government in printing money means naira is unreliable even destructive store of value, the rate they are printing money your 650k may not buy toilet roll in 6 months. One way to protect your financial future is to avoid anything to do with naira as your source of income or savings. If a fraudster created a currency to scam people it will have similar inflation rate to naira. All the crypto scammers who got thrown in jail never did to thier victims what racist colonial government of Nigeria is doing to its citizens with naira. So no, 650k is note safe for you , cause naira should not even be legal tender cause its a form of theft. Having your income denominated in naira is to ensure you will keep descending into depths of poverty as the white man running Nigeria intended. TRy to get an online or intentional remote work where you can be paid in white man currency , cause his own currency still holds better value than the one he wnats you using in Nigeria. Find a job where they pay you in crypto, pounds dollars or gold, else you are in financial danger, cause naira is nothing but theft. Your 650K will be reduced in value to 10 kobo in no time. When i was youth, the amount of niara people used to use to buy international long haul cross Atlantic plane ticket, is now what they use to buy lunch. A that rate single loaf of bread will be 650k. Dont forget that every time the price f things go up, all that increase is money that went into the pocket of the goverment, cause its those who print the money that profit from inflation. While your source of income remains in naira , better be practising how to cope with ever increasing levels of poverty as the white man running NiggerArea intended. The oyinbo people controlling the value of naira dont plan for you to survive , and if you dare go start family with that money, they will take it as offence. |

Jega2000:You are poor. That amount ain't doing anything tangible in today's Nigeria. The economy is in shambles, but idiots keep praising Tinubu as if we are back to Jonathan's era. To make a pot of soup now, not rubbish ones o, you'll need nothing less than 40k. That amount would cook more than ten pots in 2014. 2025 looks bleaker than last year....it won't get any better, I wish it would, because it's not easy for everyone. |

Jega2000:That means that you make about 418 US Dollars per month. That is not enough to categorise you as being financially okay, but then you are still better than a lot of Nigerians. I do not know how difficult or easy it is for you, but target making at least 500 to 700 US Dollars equivalent monthly. Then with time, take it up to 1,000 US Dollars equivalent per month. There is no easy road to success, but keep on getting better than your yesterday. Aim high, and work hard towards it. |

Delusional thread. Comments are so disconnected from the reality in Nigeria that you begin to wonder if these ones are living in an alternate universe. In saner climes, if you're earning above minimum wage, you're considered relatively comfortable. Here in Nigeria, how much is the old minimum wage? How much is the new one Tinubu has refused to pay? Are they anywhere close to the amount the op quoted? This is a country where less than 3% earns above 200k per month. Many bread winners even still earn below 100k and many others don't even earn anything at all. Continue deceiving yourselves. |

I think it all boils down to financial management There are men earning less than 100k monthly with 2 or 3 children in this same wretched economy yet they're surviving All that matters in life is living within your means else you can be earning N1m monthly and still be living a miserable life |

Earning between N500,000 to N700,000 monthly is a significant income in Nigeria. However, comfort is a personal and relative concept. To better understand your situation, I have a few questions: 1. What are your monthly expenses? Are there areas where you can optimize spending? 2. Do you have financial goals, such as saving, investing, or paying off debt? 3. Are you building wealth or primarily focusing on consumption? 4. How do you define "comfortable"? Is it a specific lifestyle, financial security, or something else? Sharing more details will help me provide more tailored advice and insights. |

Jega2000:What amount of income would you be "comfortable" with ? |

proeast:The reality in Nigeria is indeed far from the comments you're referring to. To put things into perspective, the old minimum wage in Nigeria was ₦30,000 per month, which was in effect from April 18, 2019. As for the new minimum wage, it's been increased to ₦70,000 per month, effective July 19, 2024. However, there's been no official statement from President Tinubu regarding the non-payment of this new minimum wage. Now, comparing these figures to the amount the OP quoted (₦500,000 to ₦700,000 per month), it's clear that their income is significantly higher than the minimum wage. However, as you pointed out, the context in Nigeria is different. Many people struggle to make ends meet, with less than 3% earning above ₦200,000 per month. It's essential to consider the economic realities in Nigeria before making assumptions about what constitutes a "comfortable" income. |
