Years ago with some free time on my hands, I decided to enroll in NOUN, thinking it would be an easy degree to add to my achievements. I had no idea I was about to embark on an intellectually demanding journey that would test my limits and transform my understanding of academics. NOUN has a way of humbling even the smartest minds and I’m grateful for that experience. Untill you’ve earned a degree in a system like NOUN, where self-motivation is a non negotiable trait required for success, you’ll remain like a person with limited vision who's unable to grasp the full picture of the world. |

I wish NOUN had students on this platform. This is the worst school your ward can attend currently. Their state offices are horrible. |

AirBere:Well our tech brought us this far are you saying it won’t be able to take us further? Have you seen Facebook multiverse and the like of apple 3D world illusion. It’s a matter of time and this tech may allow us achieve some of this gap. For the time being. Physcial interface is the only solution now |

DrBrainstorm:Many like you, who assumed earning a degree at NOUN would be easy ended up dropping out after just two semesters. No conventional university in Nigeria can match NOUN when it comes to academic discipline. This is the only institution where students cannot manipulate the system to obtain grades. There's no way for students to obtain unmerited grades. I firmly believe that NOUN graduates with a 2.1 are academically stronger to first-class graduates from other universities. |

Quelme:Not true. It depends on the standard & quality control measures put in place. I have been an advocate of distance learning most especially for the postgraduates programmes. Take the example of employees in the industries who have worked for years and have built their practical knowledge & skills far better than most of the lecturers in our higher institutions, and you tell them to come for full or part-time on-campus post-graduate programs. It's can be deployed via distance learning & goal achieved 100%. We have to wake up from our slumber and embrace smarter and more intelligent ways of doing things. |

How a Virtual Clinical Simulation Can Improve Your Nursing Skills Online simulators are helping nurses learn new skills and elevate their abilities. Nothing beats hands-on experience. But for nurses looking to improve their skills, the right hands-on learning can be difficult to find. There are only so many medical issues any given nurse is likely to regularly encounter in the clinic. Fortunately, there’s a way around this problem: online simulators. More and more nurses—and more and more nursing programs—are turning to virtual clinical simulation to mimic the experience of treating a wide variety of conditions. And research shows these simulations can make a real difference. https://www.waldenu.edu/online-bachelors-programs/bachelor-of-science-in-nursing/resource/how-a-virtual-clinical-simulation-can-improve-your-nursing-skills. This is just one of the many documents to explain the direction of education. The world is fast getting rid of physical classrooms. |

DrBrainstorm:In this Nigeria? U can’t even get a tech work with bsc not to talk of high school graduates. Nobody will employ you with your html n css portfolio. Don’t let anybody fool you, go n get ur bsc. If I ask you now to name the high school graduate doing well in tech related field in Nigeria, u can’t or u will likely name one scam |

treasureboy09:Okay, there you have it. I know you'll still argue but I know exactly what I'm talking about. You need hands on practice to get things like this done. 1. Digital Logic Design Labs In this class, students learn how to create and test digital circuits. They use special tools like breadboards, wires, and tiny computer chips called ICs. It's like building with blocks, but instead of blocks, you're using electronic parts! 2. Microprocessor/Microcontroller Labs In this class, students learn how to program and connect tiny brains to other devices. They need special equipment to do this. You can't achieve this online. 3. Embedded Systems Design In this class, students learn how to design and build systems using special parts like sensors and motors. Traffic lights, censors, bank doors etc. 4. Robotics and Mechatronics In this class, students learn how to build and program robots using mechanical and electrical parts. It's like building a Lego robot, but way more advanced. 5. Computer Architecture and Organization Labs Have you ever wondered how computers are made? In this class, students learn how to design and build their own computer systems using special parts like CPUs, memory, and peripherals. It's like building a computer from scratch. How can you learn this online? 6. VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) Design Imagine designing a tiny city with millions of tiny buildings and roads. That's kind of like what VLSI design is! In this class, students learn how to design and test these tiny "cities" using special software and hardware tools. 7. Telecommunications and Networking Labs In this class, students learn how to set up and manage computer networks using special equipment like routers, switches, and cables. 8. Computer Hardware Maintenance and Repair Imagine your computer breaks down, and you need to fix it. That's what students learn in this class! They learn how to diagnose and repair computer hardware problems using special tools and techniques. You can't achieve all these online. It's like learning how to drive truck online, of course there s videos but you can't learn it without practical experience. I've answered your question but I know you'll still argue. Advanced computer engineering can't be taught online but you can be introduced to the basics online. YouTube, coursera, Alison, MIT open course ware, Udemy etc won't teach you the aforementioned. If they do, it'll be a scratch on the surface. |

Uranos:You.are clueless about the school so stop making comment on what you know nothing about. I did my PGD, Msc, and now doing my PhD. The school is far away affordable than even the conventional federal universities where tuition is highly subsidised. Once you pay that fee, it includes your study manuals which is given to you in the study center store, that is, if you want, because the same manuals are online for you to download in their portal. I like reading my books online, so I don't bother getting the hard copy. NOUN have so much improved over the years and it is a good thing for the educational system. You have 60% as youths between the ages of 18 and 30 studying there. Warning: Don't attend NOUN if you don't wan to learn. You can't get free marks, no cheating, no face to face lecturers meeting, you don't know who marks your scripts. You can't bribe anyone or exchange sex for marks like they do in conventional universities. No Yahoo boys wearing thick cloths in the afternoon driving exotic cars bribing lecturers. You are on your own studying, forming study groups and exchange ideas. |

spiSeyi:Oga you are speaking rubbish.....the information the AI is using is base on what is written on book theoretically. Stop exaggerating this AI and comparing it with doctor |
| Re: Distance Learning, Future Of Education – NOUN VC by AirBere: 5:54pm On Jan 12, 2025 |
spiSeyi:Keep playing you hear....distant learning will not work in medical and advanced engineering courses. In fact any course that requires hands on experience will not survive distant learning. Distance learning nah for commercial, art and humanities, social science etc. No human will become a certified doctor without practical and hands on experience. |

From what I'm reading here, it's seems this NOUN school is good. But I have some worries. 1) Is their certificate accepted globally for both work and studies outside Nigeria in countries like USA, Canada, Australia, UK etc? 2) I understand my learning style. I struggle with anything E-Books. And so, am guessing their study materials will all be in form of E-Books. I am a traditional learner. I prefer hard copy books. I like to hold my books in my hand to read them. I love to put my books on the table and study them. I love turning pages of my books when reading. With all these said, I fear I might not fit in studying at NOUN where all books or will I say STUDY MATERIALS are all online. 3) The NAME: I wish federal government can remove the name "OPEN" from National Open University. This is because when I hear the name "OPEN", I feel people studying there are unserious (no offense). I feel it's because they don't go through the rigours that regular students go through. You can't compare a regular student in a Conventional University to a student at an Open University. So I feel when I graduate and my certificates bear OPEN UNIVERSITY, it will seem as if I didn't go to school when I present it outside the country. For example in UAE, some government ministries don't employ graduates from OPEN Universities. These are just my reservations. I stand to be corrected. |

High school graduates are also doing well in tech related fields this days, but I bet you won't allow a Doctor that is a product of distance learning to diagnose you.
. You are just one of the many educated illiterate in Nigeria. And Robotics is the feature of medicine & surgery, you better wakeup.
