The insatiable appetite and lots of governors to control local council funds is the bane of good governance in Nigeria. The autonomy of the LGA is sacrosanct in the Nigeria constitution and until governors stop seeing it or treating it as an appendage, the better for the citizens

But nothing is impossible in Nigeria. He can sponsor the HOA of the State to do the hatchet job.

If ordinary Minister can lead 27 members of the HOA to the extent that they denounce their membership of the Party on whose platform they were voted, how much more the president. He gets what he wants at any time he wants.

In Nigeria, loyalty is pledged to and vested in the President rather than the nation.

It's the same belief I've always held: democracy is not the best system of government. It doesn't produce the best qualified candidates, just the most popular and in many cases the most corrupt set of people for leadership roles. I believe the only reason it's still very much practiced around the world is because of the influence of America and other world superpowers.
In my opinion each country should be allowed to implement the best system that fit their peculiar situations.

A constitution is a set of CODIFIED fundamental rules that define how a country or state is governed. It simply means they are written down clearly in a specific document. But that does not mean the most influential person in the state can't employ state tools to effect your immediate removal if necessary

In Nigeria, politicians do not obey court orders but want everyone else to.

That's the problem first ..so an impeachment by two-thirds of the house might not suffice as they will refuse to leave like it's birthright.

Other than Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Jigawa and to an extent Lagos and Delta, all other state governors are not in anyway interested in improving the welfare of their citizens.

State governors are the most irresponsible set of public officials as they see state resources from FAAC as their personal money to loot brazenly. On the federal level, you need a tangible project to commission inorder to loot which in one way or the other will still filter down. But you see these governors and their brazen theft ? Just see a typical governor's motorcade convoy and you will see how they are highly wasteful. Buying SUVs with a motorcade as much as 30 while hopping on private jets .
They are not responsible for security in their states, the state judiciary is a joke and civil servants are all impoverished . Look at state schools and the shoddy road networks they claim as projects. Only Akwa Ibom has done a lot in both physical and human development . Bayelsa is concentrating more on human empowerment. Jigawa has improved on both ingrastructure and human development through very aggressive state government subsidies in agriculture. And when you consider that governors have been stealing LGA funds and denying grassroot representation by allowing councils to have elected and accountable officials, you will see these governors as the main impediment to development and poverty eradication.

The only solution is to adopt parliamentary system for states with local governments chairmen doubling as MPs and PMs.

Giving 70 crooks immunity in a country like Nigeria is not going to see this country move forward.
