That's really the way to go... it's the benefit of liberalizing the power sector. In time more and more firms will follow suit . Kudos to them all Modified: FTC in 2025, took me just one comment this year to hit FTC😊😊, signs of good things this week, !! Back to the topic, decentralization of the power grid is really the way to go, though the national grid had its pros especially under a strong central unitary govt, but in a federal state it's hard to oversee, maintain and administrate. The sooner the national grid is effectively un-bundled the better for its effective administration and efficient output. |

I don't think industries with their own grid should go back to the national grid that falls every time and still have unutilized connections on the grid, even as the individual consumers are diverting to solar energy. The collapse of the national grid increased after the subsidy was removed and introducing bands to consumers to give stable supply. |

This is further testament that a cabal is holding the power industry. Nigeria runs on average of 4500MW meanwhile some companies are generating 6500MW. If Tinubu cannot fix power before 2027(not Fashola recommended 6months)he should not bother contesting again,he's a failure. |

That is exactly the way it should go, most of the private companies should take themselves and their communities out of the national grid, this will reduce the burden of generating while government focus more of policies and supervision. |

SO, GENERALLY SPEAKING, Nigeria generates roughly 12,000 megawatts, NOT 4 or 5,000 mw as previously thought. Thanks. We're not doing that bad. There's no law that says only FG must generate electricity. What I want to see is more from the state governors. Their monthly allocation from Abuja has QUADRUPLED under this administration, after money was freed up following subsidy removal. So we need to hear more from them in terms of power generation and other projects. But good news anyway. More power to the nation (literally and figuratively). |

Becoted001:Removing subsidy without mandating the electricity companies to provide prepaid metres to all households is a way of making more money for the companies through estimated bills. As long as estimated bill is still on, Nigerians will not enjoy electricity as they should |

The data that quote that Nigerian companies generate 6500 mega is not a reflection of the actual independent power generation, let remember a lot of homes are now using solar power and that is not captured in the data. |

What's the benefits of privatisation? I wonder why Nigeria government are copying developed country when they know the private companies cannot manage well the resources. |

The same companies are damaging public road with their trucks. It is not profitable to get their own railway line. |

Way to go.. "Findings from different data sources, particularly from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, showed that the firms have generated up to 6,500 megawatts of electricity altogether. This is higher than the country’s power generation which is currently hovering around 4,500MW and 5,000MW." Is this not a shame...when private organisations are generating power ...more than what the Country's National Grid can generate ![]() Mahy things are wrong with Nigeria. |
