This happened over 15 years ago

There's this story about a Soviet dissident who was notified by a close friend in power that the KGB was about to arrest him. He's friend provided a foreign passport to him to enable him leave the country.

On getting to the train station in Moscow where he intended on boarding a train to Helsinki in neighbouring Finland, all intended passengers were expected to submit their passports to the KGB security officials at the train station. The dissident submitted his passport and took a seat . But our dissident friend was too much in a hurry to flee Russia and had not memorized the name on the passport given to him by his friend . Problem stated when the KGB official will call on each passenger to come forward and take their passport back after screening. Our friend had not memorized the name on his fake passport, so he pretended to be asleep when names of passengers were being called. Now he became the only passenger in the boarding hall and the KGB official went straight to him and poked him to wake up and take his passport and board the train.

UK doesn't have an "Embassy" in Nigeria or vice versa.

Don't they do Government in school anymore, like Maths and English. It should be made compulsory.

A few months ago, a Nigerian living in the UK was asking about papers they need to take to the Nigerian Embassy over there.
