300k bags to feed over 200 million people? These people are jokers! Only 50 million bags of rice can crash the price of rice in Nigeria. 300k bags cannot even feed a state for two weeks. |

NIGERIA is a land of oppression. People are too wicked and end up throwing the blame on government. If not for wickedness, why will locally produced rice sell for 100,000 naira and above. Most NIGERIANS are worst than the politicians. Keep taking advantage of the system to oppress yourselves. |

SmartPolician:Who said it was meant to feed 200 million people? Do you have any sense at all, this boy? Only 50 million bags of rice can crash the price of rice in Nigeria. 300k bags cannot even feed a state for two weeks. You clearly know NOTHING about how markets work. It’s not about “feeding a state”. The 300k bags introduced to the Nigerian market at cheaper than current prices represents a disruption of the market by a ‘new entrant’, which can lead rival producers to lower their prices as well, generating a price war headed downwards, that favours buyers. That’s the thinking behind the move. It’s a strategic move that should lead to falling prices for rice. In that press meeting Tinubu had last month he said he would end inflation by flooding the market with goods, so this is it. |

I wonder why Fg can not invite rice producing countries like Thailand, Brazil etc to come in, and then guarantee them of security. Allow them to produce rice in a very large quantity, the idea will be to Sell rice to Africa countries right from Nigeria. At the end rice will not only be cheap in the country, but give strong vigor to the economy. |

ogaemma:and you ignorantly and foolishly forget the farmer spends a lot as well in cultivating the rice - from the seedling to transportation, security and other processes involved in the cultivation and to fortifying himself for the other needed commodities |
| Re: Nigeria Receives 300,000 Bags Of Rice From Thailand To Crash Price by ogaemma: 12:36pm On Jan 13, 2025 |
mokwechineme:While not shut up this early morning. What did the farmer spend a lot to cultivate? I lived in the Core north before travelling out. The acre's of land to farm in the North is giving to farmer's cooperative for free by the government. Machinery and tractor's is also giving to farmer's for free. Seedlings and fertilizer is also subsidized for them by the government. Chemicals to control pesticide is also subsidized for them. Infact farming is easier in the North than in the South, because of the huge support farmer's get from the state government. What is the process of harvesting rice. Rice is one of the easiest crop to cultivate. I understand there is Security challenges, which the Northerners were also part of it from the unset. Because when the bandit's entered NIGERIA at first, those people in the core North protected them, thinking the bandit's were here to fight for their benefits. Now it has boomerang. Cost of transportation, yes the government failed NIGERIANS. Still it doesn't justify selling a bag of local rice for over 100,000 naira. |

The same Thailand rice that APC used propaganda and said that Thailand rice and imported rice are plastic rice, that nigerians should start eating locally made rice. Thatwas when rice was just 7k per bag, now that even local rice is over 100k, the same APC government are now collecting the same Thailand rice that they used propaganda for. Believe anything that comes out from apc at your own peril. |

Kemetian:All this is hogwash.. The rice will be shared by the politicians who will either sell it at the prevalent rate or store it for future elections.. There's no crashing of any price.. The ONLY way to really crash price is o open the borders and allow rice in freely. Once that happens..price will crash without being coerced by FG. |
