The Sokoto Caliphate sponsored the candidate that was rejected. The Oyomesi were heavily compromised through millions of cash. The governor gave them enough time to reverse the decision and do the right thing but they refused and insisted that the candidate who is half Oyo and half fulani must be the king. The Alaafin stool is too important and critical to the overall interest of Yoruba land to be allowed to pass to a candidate that will be subservient to the Sokoto caliphate. The governor did the right thing by siding with the opinion of majority of Oyo and Yoruba people.

Is it today that kingmakers had been collecting bribe. Can you prove they took bribe? I don't see that as bribe but lobbying. It's everywhere.

Can Seyi Makinde swear he didn't lobby INEC? So, it's not new and that doesn't mean he should shut out kingmakers in the selection process. The kingmakers are the one to select and forward name to the Gov.

What a responsible Gov should do is to lobby the kingmakers for his candidate if he has one in mind.

Now, he's rushing everything. He appointed him 3 days ago and yesterday he gave him staff of office without the usual coronation ceremony. Is that the procedure in Yoruba land?

Relax, this is just the instrument of office,he will now undergo the necessary spiritual rites and rituals (ipebi) before handed over the staff of office....this only signify acknowledgement from the state government.

There is nothing like Alaafin through backdoor. If the Oyomesi truly have the power to appoint an Alaafin, they should have done it since 2023. If they have the power, let them appoint and crown their own Alaafin. The Governor is the final authority on the appointment of an Alaafin and not the Oyomesi. The governor has made his decision and that is final. This is the time for everyone to unite and support the new monarch. Calling names and throwing accusations around will not help the situation.

Again, your attempt to make it about religion is unfortunate. The Alaafin stool is not an Islamic stool. It is the throne of Oranmiyan and Sango. Anyone fro the royal household irrespective of religion can aspire to the throne. We must not allow our enemies to use religion to divide us over this matter. The overall interest of Yoruba land should be the priority and not religion.
