They actually do. Much of what we practice as christianity today was "formulated" by the Greco-Romans. Things like Trinity, mongamy and many concepts were not part of early chritianity.

They are trying to walk a fine line.
A homosexual is someone who engages in homosexual acts man to man ; woman to woman.
A heterosexual someone who engages in natural sex.
Now, a gay man is someone whose affinity is for same sex. A straight man whose affection for opposite sex.
So you can be a gay man and be celibate just like you can be a straight man and celibate.
Hence gay man can be allowed to priesthood but must be celibate. Same as a straight man.

These churches - the Catholic and Church of England are trying to walk the line in being inclusive yet trying to stay true in that Paul condemns these sexual acts.

Some people here seem surprised at this news from the Vatican. Well, I'm not. This has been their practice from time immemorial---talking about sodomy, lesbianism and other abominable sexual vices. An homosexual priest does not have to perform sexual acts because he is committed to celibacy just like an heterosexual priest.

It is NOT a sin to be Homosexual, it is a condition (CCC 2358)
What IS A SIN is to engage in Homosexual acts.

I am heterosexual. It doesn't mean that I engage in heterosexual acts. I could with my wife if I were married but as a Numerary member of Opus Dei, I am committed to celibacy.
