A construction company, China Harbour Engineering Company Nigeria Limited has announced that cashless tolling system will commence on the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Markurdi express way on Thursday, the 16th of January, 2025.

The system which follows Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) guidelines for Public-Private Partnerships in the country, signifies the begining of the operations and maintenance of the road to ensure a sustainable of road network in the country.

In a statement made available to Blueprint Sunday in Abuja, the construction firm said: “The cashless tolling system is a strategic programme under the Highway Development and Management Initiative (HDMI), aimed at promoting a strong and sustainable transportation ecosystem.

“Tolls collected will go towards funding road maintenance, rescue services, improved security services, rest areas, and more. With cashless Tolling , payments are guaranteed to be accounted for.”

The statement advised motorists to get their “E-tags at the Toll plazas or Touch n Go cards at the Toll plazas, Trailer Parks, Garages and POS operators all along the expressway. They can also just pull up with POS cards and experience a new dimension in tolling.”

The expressway is built under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction–Finance (EPC+F) model.

This is the same model for Lagos-Calabar coastal road project. Why was there so much of deliberate mischief and unnecessary hullabaloo over the funding?. However, this model is proven to be feasible. This model is going to work just as fine for Lagos-Calabar too, I guess critics have to be a bit more reasonable.

When coming from gombe I passed that road.
The smoothness and its quality was a welcome relief after all the numerous pot holes we had to endure before getting to that stretch of road

It's my prayer that all Nigeria roads would be smooth like that to make driving a pleasurable experience

This E tolling would limit leakages to the barest minimum and I pray the money generated would be utilized for what it was earmarked for

Umahi is going to become the first President from South East.

He has proven his competence repetitively and aligned with all political niches.

You hardly find him blabbing or making enemies.

Fubara should get a school bag and notebooks, and attend Umahi’s school.

All these policies, especially the tax reform bills, etc are good measures and programs that contribute to the national development. The problem lies with massive mistrust of government by citizens, as a result of catastrophic failure, betrayal and corruption by the ruling class.

Expand affordable PPPs to regions with bad roads

PPP is the way forward, it ll reduce government inefficiencies ,improve technical skills transfer and promote rapid growth if executed with the FEAR of God!

Emphasis on fear of God,because of fantastically corrupt civil servants

Minister of Interior is working too.

That man has used technology to tackle the bureaucratic inefficiency that Buhari and Aregbesola created in the passport office.

Lekki toll gate will not be soon forgetten, they were telling us they are paying for loan every year, the loan did not end until event of ENDSAR expose the corruption. I am not in support of any tolling of Nigeria's road. It is an avenue for corruption, that said, I thought petrol tax was introduced by Obasanjo in order to scrape toll gate.
