Wow, this is awesome and it is similar to the template I put forward as the South West Agenda years ago. Ogun State has connected to the Lagos Rail, and Lagos has secured lands from Ogun State. This was part of the plan...Lagos leasing lands from Ogun state for Agriculture and Housing. Both sides win...Lagos can build and sell those houses for a profit to their workers, develop Ogun State and Ogun can collect annual taxes. TimeManager: |

I have said it here and in the dailies severally that there should be a pilot farm in all the 774 local government in the country. The federal government should initiate it by encouraging them by way of partnership through their state governors If every local government in Nigeria should produce food and flood the market,I think the prices of food will go down |

Hoelujohn:50 acres cannot feed 2000 people for a year. This project is good for publicity but in reality, it's just a drop of water in an ocean. |

Ogun will soon regret this land they’re selling to Lagos. Why will Ogun state governor sell an indigenous land to Lagos. What will the original owners do now. We think of now and not in the future. Ok oh. |

I thought about that too and I feel they are going to do that dividing of lands to encourage the youths of that LGA. The land is more like an incentive to the youths of that LGA. Ofcourse it wouldn't be thrown open to every body in the LGA but people that are ready and keen to invest and work in the farm. The division could also be seen as a form of competition among the youths.....many group would want to do an excellent job. However, there's a thing or rather an opening for profit making beside the farming. That's the preservation of the farm produce. How do we preserve the tomatoes, peppers, the vegetables etc......how do we keep them from getting rotten till they are all harvested and transported to the markets. I guess the LGA will be buying off the produce from the Youths and sell to the people of Lagos state directly.....this is a very good initiative and am so proud that it's not just talk talk but already taking action by acquiring the land already before even broadcasting it.......this really shows that LGAs financial autonomy is really working......nobody knows the citizens more than the LGAs......they know their people and the people knows them too.....Nija Shall be great again in our life time.. loffyloffy: |

They can do better, ordinary individuals are cultivating 200 to 500 acres on yearly basis, local government should be cultivating nothing less than 1000 acres of farmland . This county is just a joke |

Paramount01:If all local governments do the same, that wouldn't feed one percent of Nigerians. Do the maths. That would be less than 50,000 acres of cultivated land. That is audio farming. |

This is good development but i think federal government to mandate 1000 acres of land to each local government and if they did it inflation will drop drastically |
