I am Ikwerre and l see no wrong with what John Mbata did. Mbata mother is Igbo. Going by Ohaneze constitution they allow their nwa nwa to be members of Ohaneze. John Mbata unlike Livingstone Wechie never made a statement against the Ikwerre people. He is there on his personal interest.
Let's allow this to rest.

Interesting! These guys speak so much like Igbos. The names are very similar, so are the languages, which points to either colonization or just political rivalry.

But just to be clear, what you hear from these people is not the consensus, there are different groups that identify as Igbos while there are others that don't.

It's the same way many Puerto Ricans want their own country, they don't want to be called Americans, but they're full American citizens. Inside Puerto Rico, they can't vote in a US election (only primaries), but inside America, they have full voting rights.

Well you can console yourself with that falsehood of nwa nwa thing.
Membership of Ohanaeze is based on states and there are 7 member states of which River state is one and your governor is one of the sponsors of Ohanaeze ndi Igbo and he sent government delegates to represent the state during the congress.
The position of PG rotates among the 7 states alphabetically for 4 year term it was not zoned to Ikwerre but to Rivers state Igbo speaking people but Ikwerre candidates used their political influence to get the position against other candidates from Etchie and Egbema.
