Now to answer your question. My personal experience.

Back then I just got admission into uni.

My dad paid for meal ticket to eat in the school canteen. But I stayed off campus. And I hated those "ajebo" settings. So I preferred to buy food in town... Besides going to school to eat meals especially when I didn’t have lectures was stressful. I would have to hang around till meal time. I hated those adjebo settings... My mind was always to do what I had to do and get out.

Now I had 3 not so ajebo friends... 2 where students of unical and 1 in onabisi ago iwoye. I loved to hang out with these lots. Naturally, we gelled and became the 4 musketeers.

Good. Now we began to hang out Alot. It wasn't long before they introduced me to a buka joint where we always went to eat beans and bread.

I will give my meal tickets out to go eat beans and bread frequently with my friends. And guess who was paying for all our meals?

Anyway long story short, I noticed one of the windows in the shop was always shut. So one particular day when it was unusually hot, I burst open the window before mama Taiwo... The beans seller or anyone else could stop me.

Guess what I saw?

I saw a dirty looking idol... That had been served beans and the beans been served over a long time had gotten stale, rotten and smelly. Making the place look like an irritating dump site.

So I beckoned to my partners in beans chopings to come take a look.

They came, saw and shrugged it off as if it was nothing. Like it was a normal event and went back to eating their beans and soft bread.

I couldn't help but wonder if it was the effect of the idol that made them shrug it off as nothing.

But I remember that was the last time I ever went to mama Taiwo...or more appropriately Iya taiwo's beans shop to savor her beans and... Soft bread and Fanta.

I was like 16 years old then when I got admission. But looking at it today and with my experiences in life and what I know now...

...its possible I MAY have reacted differently!

I remember back then in the early 90's Obalende under bridge where people used to eat before going to work.

The sane plate wey dem dey take serve normal people na him dem dey take serve confirmed mad people wey come buy food.

After I sight this thing like 3 times. I relocate to police barracks opposite saint Greg's.

This life na big risk. People do things . No wonder God talk sey him regret sey him create man.
