The Kebbi State Police Command has announced that its officer rejected a ₦1,060,000 bribe offered by suspects in the state.

This was stated in a release signed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, and made available to the media in the state on Tuesday.

According to the statement, “On January 13, 2025, at about 1800hrs, one Umaru Garba ‘m’ aged 53yrs of Dangandu village, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji Mamman ‘m’ aged 51yrs of Maimaichi village, all of Arewa LGA, and Usman Muhammadu ‘m’ aged 50yrs of Bakaramba village in Argungu LGA, conspired and offered the sum of One Million and Sixty Thousand Naira (# 1, 060, 000) bribe to the Command’s lead Investigator, at the premises of the State Criminal Investigation Department, State Headquarters, Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.

“The bribe is with a view to compromise the Investigation and prosecution of a case of banditry allegedly perpetrated by suspected Lakurawa terrorists operating in the northern part of the State.

The suspects were instantly arrested, and the investigation is still ongoing, after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.

“Sequel to this development, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, had commended the commitment and professionalism displayed by the Detectives and urged other Police Officers to emulate them”

The statement also mentioned that the commissioner reiterated the Command’s determination in the ongoing fight against banditry and other serious crimes to allow socio-economic activities to thrive in Kebbi State.

Let's ask the bandits and know if they offered Bribe bcuz Police relation officers in Nigeria are so notorious in lies and saying what the suspects never said 😆 to the media

"They confessed to the crime"

If you know, you know

As Dem catch these ones it's good but they look like bandit sponsors not bandits we use to know

The money is too small for their crime, let them make it like 5m and see what happens... and the sharing formula might be a case here.

The police has come under intense scrutiny in the past couple of days by both the Nigerian lawmakers and Amnesty International. I'm not surprised to see a news like this with an attempt to launder the already battered image of the NPF. I expect to see more news like this.

If Nigerian Govt decide to round them up for a firing squad just like it was done to the Congolese Kuluna, you would hear same Nigerians start to shout, No!! Say no to jungle justice......"This is inhumane", "where is humanity conscience" "They should be rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society and recruited into the Military

Now even the Op has the capability to protest against outright execution of this dreaded white bearded old men here........Now ask me why did I say the Op has d ability to do so.........Can we all see Op has tried his own little way to Blurr their faces to evade public view? But why?? Why cover the faces of evil men who are not fit to live among the living??

Expose anything exposable about them and you are here trying to accord them some privacy by blurrin their faces........Even those Jalabia or whatever Kaftan they are wearing should be ripped off them..............But No.

Not so true, man.

I've never been a fan of the so called re-integration thing, the Congolese way is a better way to go about it.

An eye for an eye is a better way to deal with this folks and not the kid gloves treatment the Nigerian government are known for.

That's why they have refused cashless policy,NIN registration, tax reforms,BVN.... anything to allow govt capture the activities of all citizens so as to easily monitor movement of illicit funds.....how can you do business of 5 million with someone and he tells you to bring cash in this modern age, that's how illicit funds go around for nefarious activities....we claim they are illiterates and they can't accept change.....we will keep on battling this menace forever.

I support cashless 100% and tax reforms so we get everyone captured and we know what everyone earns...... security agencies should arrest and consficate any cash found on anyone in excess of 50k at a time.

So they can bungle the case and set them free and everything goes back to normal.... You already have evidence against them for a crime and you can't reveal adequate info and reveal their faces.....but the poor stupid Yoruba boy that killed is gf in Abuja is all over the internet.

I said same about the case of that security guard mauled by dogs in an estate in Lagos.....till today, police hasn't revealed the name of the victim and address also the owner of the dogs or their breeds..... nothing has come out of that till date, the guy done die go just like that.

I agree in totality, but 50k is too small. It can't fill my Camry muscle tank. For the sake of petty cash transactions, 500k is a better benchmark.

Only if you know how much damage 500k can do in the hands of these guys ... If 3 of us carry 500k each, that's 1.5m.

There is no reason not to go cashless for any transaction above 50k.....I even had to fight and amala seller because they requested cash for a bill of 12k... The way wey I take change am for dem....you would hardly find more than 5k cash on me at any given time.
