I read somewhere that the fire was man made.
They should have measures to contain it in place prior.

United States works differently because the states have their own laws and policies without interference from the federal government.

There are many that have their property insured. Their property are ruined by the fire.
The insurance companies are also ruined with all their resources.

How will they make claim and how are they going to be compensated?

As far as I know, Insurance companies are also insured - reinsurance. They'll start from there.

Fire is escapable. Unless the aim is just to destroy infrastructures/ammunitions at cheaper cost, otherwise, fire is often escapable if just fire without yet some expensive super-burning fuel with it.

I suppose this is why they employ actuaries. They would have assessed the risk of insurance and reinsurance. The probably of impact on insurance and reinsurance companies simultaneously is low but not impossible. I suspect they diversify their investments accordingly.

The houses might have retarded the spread, but what made it worse was how rich those people are. I mean, they left a lot of cars behind while evacuating, cars with tanks full of petrol. That's what actually finished those homes, the cars.
