The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1,670 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,660 per dollar on Tuesday. Similarly, the Naira depreciated to N1,550 per dollar in the official foreign exchange market.

Data published by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, showed that the exchange rate for Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) rose to N1,550 per dollar from N1,549 per dollar on Tuesday, indicating N1 depreciation for the naira.

Consequently, the margin between the parallel market and NFEM rate widened to N120 per dollar from N111 per dollar on Tuesday.

But you can't blame the guy. Face the people who handles the economy of the country and the president. It doesn't matter what an individual think. Some want it high.some what it low. Every country has speculators. But leadership determines
i get you, i wish too but i am not selfish and it doesnt affect me directly as the economy av lil or NO impact on my LIFE at the moment but i am still positive and PRAYING for them back home.. but NIGERIANS on their own dont know what they want, imagine dem still HOPING on INCREASE, who's life will get HARDER ?

Government is yet to get things right
Dollar keeps falling and rising.
Source: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/01/naira-down-to-n1670-in-parallel-market-2/
The growing gap between the parallel market and official exchange rates directly impacts Nigeria's cost of living. Being heavily import-dependent, a weaker Naira means higher prices for imported goods, from food to electronics, pushing up inflation. This discrepancy also fuels market instability, making essential commodities even less affordable for the average Nigerian, further straining household budgets.

Lol...instead of demanding transparency and accountability from an administration whose policies are failing and impoverishing Nigerians everyday, some dumb elements in their youthful stage have stupeedly preoccupied themselves with a coup that happened more than 50 years ago!
Some one even blamed the removal of the regional government structure on a military head of state but yet successive civilian presidents never deemed it fit to bring back such structure!
Will a reminder of the 1966 coup provide the basic necessities for the common man to strive in Nigeria?

If Vanguard is having a slow news day, let them go and interview hungry people on the streets. Not pointless articles like this.
