I'm not here to banter numbers with you like a bunch of dimwits .. u said a whole senior military man killed was coincidence...if he was not an Igbo man will you not count him as being targeted for not being Igbo?? A coup that featured the 3 major tribes both in participation and casualties but u dimwits keep struggling in futility to wear an Igbo strait on it...
the coup didn't feature any 3 major tribe, u Igbos planned it n executed it

We will resist all your attempt to change history, u killed everyone's leaders except yours to get to power

The history will always b told

The OP was trying to create a different scenario by saying 300 igbo soldiers were killed in the counter coup.. meanwhile other tribes also lost men during the coup..
The op didn't say that. Please can you indicate part of his write up where he said so?

We're waiting for the 300 names and tribes of those killed.

If you can't provide it, then you're a liar

Are you an illiterate?, where's the 300 names?. you think you can just sit down & bandy figures around.
I really don't understand why it is easier for you guys to call people names rather than challenging the information being presented to you.

In his write up he said how many he will post today and that the rest he will post on the 29th of July. I don't see anything difficult to comprehend here.

Without the murders of January 15th, 1966, there wouldn’t have been a massacre on 29th July, 1966. The terrible acts committed by Ibo officers on 15th January 1966 killed the unity of Nigeria and the camaraderie in the military. Nigeria has not recovered from the affliction of that day.

I had assumed it was an anti-Igbo coup, but your insight clears that up. Interestingly, a certain tribe that suffered losses on both ends chooses to selectively mourn January 15th while ignoring their july 29th casualties and consequences. Their narrative reeks of hypocrisy and selective outrage.

Well the North and West had the opportunity to fix that for over 50 years both under the military and civilian rule.

So are you also going to blame the wasted opportunities to fix it by the Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba on the Igbos?

Alex Ekwueme and Ebitu Ukiwe served as Vice President of Nigeria. Ameh Ebute, Evans Enwerem, Chuba Okadigbo, Anyim Pius Anyim, Adolphus Wabara and Ken Nnamani were all Senate presidents. Ekweremadu was deputy senate president for 12 years. Goodluck Jonathan was President for 6 years.

So you see, Igbos and Ijaws have been part of the ruling class for the last 50 years that you talked about. The political class are collectively guilty irrespective of ethnicity.

You conveniently left out the all the years of military rules where power was solely in the hands of the Yoruba or Hausa/Fulani?

So the political class were collectively quilt irrespective of ethnicity but the military hierarchy was not guilty but just the Igbos?

Please for the last 50 years can you lists the number of persons for each of the various arms of the government for each administration and their regions so we can really compare notes : Executive, judiciary and legislative arms?

NB: I am glad that you admitted that it is a class-affairs and I would assume that you should keep your conversation in that lime light instead of being tribal when it suits.

Was he not resisting the coupists like some others were allegedly resisting?

Your Igbo hating effort is at best amusing

Coup is coup and coup is bad . But why do imbeciles keep trying to hang an Igbo tag on it?

A coup that has all 3 tribes as participants and victims? If not Igbo hating?

Igbo coup? As if an Igbo umbrella body came together and endorsed a coup.. A coup that was resisted and eventually put down by other Igbo officers (col. Unaegbe even died doing this)..Ojukwu and Ironside almost also lost their lives resisting it.the more u guys stress it the dumber and brain dead u sound

You can tell those who are victims not to cry. You can shut those who lost dear one not to talk. The more you attempt to bully people from talking about it, them more you strengthen their resolve to keep it going

He isn't bullying them not to cry or mourn their dead or not to talk about but not to tag it an Igbo coup. And that if you tag it an Igbo coup you should also tag the counter coup as Hausa-Fulani coup. Unless there is something I am missing?

How do you tell those mourning how to mourn. They are crying over those who killed their loved ones, just the way the love ones of other coups cries at each anniversary the way they felt.
Shouting them down or telling them what to say only open the wound the more. Fact is fact you can't wish it a way. We all as a country should move on.

Nobody is bullying anybody not to talk about history but don't jettison your sense when doing it,all in the name of Igbo hating. Let's assume all the officers involved were igbos and truly no single Igbo died in the putsch and an Igbo man did not end the mutiny... Even at that scenario u still can't tag it an Igbo coup be ause there was no Igbo consensus to it. The coupists acted on their own discretion..The average Igbo man woke up with same shock to the news as every other ethnic groups...so why the craze to lace it Igbo coup... But the other coups were not called Fulani coup, hausa coup, lantang coup and of late Yoruba (diya/olarenwaju) coup. If u do not spot the hypocrisy and mindless ethnic hatred towards Igbo here .then I cannot help u.

I didn't read any of text in CAPs, I am yet to read any of statement that is written to the victims or did I miss that?

Going by your logic he is also mourning the counter coup and you can't tell him not to tag it Hausa-Fulani coup can you? So you are trying to guilt him into mourning the way you want him to mourn? grin

He can mourn as much and in anyway he want, I didn't and will never have objections to him on that. So also let him allow others mourn in peace and not shut them down
When you see the list of Igbos and other officers killed in the counter coup, is it any better?

I think even your own logic went over your head grin

You said he is at liberty to mourn the way he wants and you wont get in the way of that.

What if his way of mourning is 'to bully and shut others up"? By your own logic you asking him not to do that is equivalent to you telling him how to mourn, you see the problem in that your logic? grin

I didn't say so. You said people are allowed to mourn the way they want even if it being tribalist. So I pointed out the loophole in your logic and now you want to put words in my mouth instead of accepting that your logic was faulty at best. grin

Oh really? Then Google the 1945 Jos massacre and the 1953 Kano massacre. Both were before 1966 and both saw Northerners massacre Igbos. They did not need January 15 1966

What all this tells us is that the British should never have brought us together in one country, all we have done since then is kill each other

Nigeria should disintegrate let everyone go their way, the union is totally pointless

Because Nigeria refused to recover. Inspite of the millions of Igbos that died in the civil war, the West and North are still the most pained from that era. Doesn't make sense!

How many times do you hear Japanese reminding the US of Hiroshima and Nagasaki or pearl Harbor?
