Reactions After Bayo Onanuga Invited Peter Obi To Retweet A Report Stating That $1 Is Now N1,550


Following Bayo Onanuga's invitation to Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra state, to retweet a story indicating that $1 is now trading for N1,550, numerous social media users have expressed their sentiments. Obi is the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy. An article by Bayo Onanuga headlined "The Naira finds its footing as it stabilises" was published on Thursday on his official X handle.

Bloomberg stated that the naira has been fluctuating between N1,550 and N1,520 per dollar since December. But Bayo Onanuga said after posting the ad that the naira has begun to hold its own versus other currencies. But he did urge the ex-governor of Anambra state to post about it on his own timeline.


Bayo Onanuga stated on his website that the naira is maintaining its value relative to the dollar and other currencies. The news here is excellent, not terrible. It is not a new 'news' and that part is obviously a error from the source, but it does not take away from the import of the story.

But it is obvious that it is an error (poor editing on the part of the news publishers), but it does not take away from the news that a government official is proud that the exchange rate has stabilised at N1550:$1...
