Hello fellow Naira landers,ive always been contemplating to japa out of this country by traveling through ship/sea,the flight ticket and visa is not that affordable for common man this days and we all know how expensive things are especially if one want to leave the country by flight and all,exchange rate seff choke😞

What are the cons and pros of traveling by sea and is it cheaper or expensive ?

Do anyone have idea how much it costs and required documents to do that?

Share your experiences and contributions if you ever travel out of the country by ship please.

I'm not sure transcontinental passenger ships still operate in Nigeria in these days and time.

Except you want to stowaway or work with international shipping vessels and maybe maneuver your way from there.

Travelling by ship from Nigeria to Europe cost more than flying.
The Ships that ply the Lagos - Europe routes are mainly cargo ships that carry Containers and Vehicles but they usually have space for like 12 passengers for an average price of 100 Dollars per passenger per day. It may take some days to get to Europe from Nigeria because the ship will be making stopovers at different ports picking up items along the way.
Your Visa must be intact to be transported.
The biggest ship lines that do that are Grimaldi lines and Sallaum lines.
Don't think of stowing away, I would rather go to Mile 12 and be pushing Wheel barrow than stowaway.

I don’t even stay in lagos,i have zero ideas on working on vessels or ships….do they grant work permission with qualification(of course they’ll definitely do)
I just want to aquire more knowledge about it.

Unless you want to do this. You can starve to death or fall off inside the ocean where sharks/fish will consume your flesh. Like someone said up there a few ships carry passengers but you must have visa and it’s costlier than plane ticket.
