Debris inside the left click touchpad maybe the reason for continuous clicking. I suggest you shutdown and clean the holes with brush then clean the touchpad with spirit.

I have an hp probook laptop that was left abandoned for about 6 months. Prior to then, it was working fine. No issues..

Now after abandoning for 6 months (I travelled) . The laptop won't power on. Also, it does not indicate that it's even charging (charging light is not showing). Basically, the laptop is dead and needs to be woken up.

What could the issue be and what can I do?

If the battery is inbuilt, kindly open the back cover and remove the battery. Then plug the laptop and power it ON without the battery.

If it is not inbuilt remove the battery and follow the above procedure

Go to device manager, you'll see battery drivers, under it uninstall the battery compliant driver and restart the laptop.

Note that sometimes this could be an operating system issue too.

Okay, thank you very much. I'm not with the laptop at the moment, will do as you said when I get back.

The OS is Windows 11 Pro. I've also noticed some minor differences with it and some other laptops with the same OS I've seen.

For example, the settings page, WiFi icon, notification icon ( has a text icon instead of a bell icon), etc looks different I don't know why. Bern having difficulty uploading images but will keep trying.

I also noticed that the hotkeys for brightness are not working. I'm guessing these could also be OS defects?

So many things can cause it including multiple press of power button when system hibernate or put to sleep. Press and hold the power button to force shutdown and power it on again. All startup to repair and if it fails click to continue Windows 10 or 11.
