Surely nothing wrong with sharing palliatives but something could be wrong with palliatives..

1. If a percentage of the money gets diverted to government officials.
2. If the Palliatives are given to the wrong persons, those who don't really need them.
3. If the quantity that gets to people for instance is 2 cups of rice, 1 indomie and 10 cubes of maggi.

All of the above I have seen with my owns very eyes..

Budgeting money for palliatives should be a criminal offence in Nigeria.
On this i agree. We need a better method of giving.

Bro abeg, who and who benefited from the so called food palliative in 2024? Plz educate me too
But people were here calling Tinubu Mr. Rice and complaining that he should stop sharing rice. Are we saying that the government didn't share rice again?

Palliatives is freebies, a form of giving, nothing wrong with giving people. NGOs, religious institutions, philanthropists give, nothing wrong with government giving also, not only collect collect. But it doesn't solve the problems at hand.
Ask him what government he has that was horrible.

You are the insensitive one here. Tell me one person u know that collected FG palliative. You guys are liars, thieves and fraudsters.
Read through the thread and hear people saying what was shared/collected was too small. That you didn't collect doesn't mean nobody did.

Think for a minute here and stop licking the feet of a terrible government. At N100 per meal, that amount would only provide one meal for Nigeria's poor people. So you are clapping for a government that provided a plate of rice in an entire year to the average poor Nigerian. Let's begin to use our brains and apply the primary school maths Uncle John taught us.
Note, that there are more than 100 million poor Nigerians.
This was a complete waste of money.
How much do you suggest to be spent next time? Na so people dey complain and criticize until asked to perform.

Zero and here is why. We don't have enough money to make any meaningful impact feeding the poor directly.
So rather than provide one meal a year for the poor, why don't you spend the money on more sustainable projects?

Again, your question was asked in bad faith. The purpose of good governance is not to stop people from complaining and criticizing but to better the lives of the people. If 98 billion naira worth of food is divided among all the poor, no one's life would be better. Let us begin to use our heads.

PDP mismanaged our greatness as a country, putting us on a keg of gunpowder. With all the fatness, Okonjo was having headache and borrowing to pay ordinary salaries. The President GEJ told us we can't afford trains except locomotives. We're not kids if you are.
Those are the lies you tell yourself in your APC coven
Nigeria was great before PDP took over in 1999 and they then mismanaged it. Bloody lie!!
Nigeria was comatose in 1999. Foreign reserve was just about $5bn with various embargoes and humongous debts. Minimum wage was a paltry N700 with high unemployment rate
PDP handed over a far better Nigeria to APC who have steadily taken Nigeria back to the pre-1999 era where the middle class was a struggling class.
More Nigerians are now using sawdust and charcoal than before 1999!!
Same rail was built under GEJ. You bloody liars. Can you point to one rail that has been fully paid for in Nigeria? Even the Lagos rails are not fully paid for. Who is deceiving who? And have we stopped using locomotives or are you an illiterate?
Did we stop borrowing to pay salaries after Okonjo Iweala?

N9.74b on food palliatives in 2024 in a country that has less than 300million population?!!!

Let us say you used N1b to mobilize to share N1m to each citizen in cash or transfer and let that one million reach everyone both young and old. You will see that that there will be remnant if perhaps N9.74b is the budget.

FG why una dey suffer us like this

This amount you say you spent is not true na! 🤨

Nothing wrong with palliatives, stop being a sore loser just criticizing everything as if you know anything. We've all experienced your government and it was horrible, so goan siddon. If they didn't make a single provision, you would still wail about cushion and government insensitivity to the poor.
So you mean you actually got your own palliative? You can swear?

Yes, there is nothing wrong with palliatives, but when the pains caused by a few is used to steal from them, it not just wrong, but evil!

It is gross foolishness and a display of retardant behavior to defend an obvious lie and wickedness because of tribe, ethnicity or religion.

The same way the igp was reading a fictitious budget to a bunch of gagools who have already been promised some percentage of the inflated budget. The country is a joke, and it's just been deliberately destroyed by retards who can't see beyond their noses.

How many people on nairaland received the pallaitives? Or know people that recieved?

Unfortunately, the country is not run by one person but based on collective interests. Many states asked for palliatives and many even still ask for subsidies. The FG cannot unanimously remove the feeding bottle without providing some cushion. The 2024 budget had a total expenditure of NGN 27.5 trillion. This 10billion naira is about 0.04% of the budget. The over 99.95% of the remaining can be spent on more sustainable projects. This doesn't kill.

Just google "FG palliatives for 2024" and see the results, including videos. That you did not get does not automatically mean nobody got. Scroll up a bit from this post, someone just posted picture of what he got. If you have no proof, stop calling people thieves, false accusation is wrong and a sin.

i have no idea of an APC coven, i simply tell you what every normal Nigerian knows. Nigeria has always been a great country with vast resources, both human and natural. The PDP mismanaged that. Everyone knows that the military did likewise so we're not discussing the military era, or are we? The only people who think military is somehow better are not APC folks but sore losers of the 2023 elections, especially the young Obi followers who prefer a military takeover is their candidate is not president. The PDP years saw the biggest oil boom which was global. They refused to take advantage of it and of the goodwill enjoyed from the commity of nations around. Instead, the stole us dry and gave virtually nothing in infrastructure, neither saved for the rainy day. The fx reserves fell to about $30 billion, the lowest in 10 years. The CBN accused the government of a missing $20billion aside from other thefts. By the time they were voted out, the country was already in trouble, and like you accepted unable to pay common salaries.
By 2013, the only operational segment of Nigeria's rail network was between Lagos and Kano. Passenger trains took 31 hours to complete the journey at an average speed of 45 km/h. Today, the APC has given us standard guage lines Abuja to Kaduna (187 km) opened officially on 26 July 2016. Warri–Itakpe Railway that begun in 1987 was completed by APC in 2020. The 157 kilometre Lagos–Ibadan section began construction in March 2017 and was inaugurated on 10 June 2021. This is not forgetting the modern station buildings that have been constructed along all new standard gauge lines, the Lagos metro lines and all the other ongoing constructions. Which one did PDP build or complete aside from using them for election campaign and promises? Kindly bring up proof of the current FG borrowing to pay salaries. i have receipts of Okonjo having headache and borrowing which you agree to.

Palliatives are not in our constitution so the federal government can remove it. And for a very poor country like Nigeria, every 0.04% of our budget matters to a serious government.
Once again, let me clearly state that the States do not decide how the federal budget is spent.
I also think that it is a bit irresponsible to assume that 0.04% of the budget wasted would not hurt or kill in a country where people die of poverty. Every Kobo wasted would ultimately lead to death one way or the other. We can't afford to waste a Kobo without deadly results in a country like 9ja
