Godjone:My brother there no any reform anywhere,it is just pricing Because the government is a monopoly in so many products it just increased prices arbitrarily to arrive at its projected revue at the expense of the people, the government increased taxes, increased interest rates ,increased forex price, increased fuel price in an insane manner never witnessed before, increased school fees beyond what parents and students can afford,he increased the price of electricity In all these you can see that the driving force is revenue, which they will squander on luxurious living, such as suv, limousine, bogous jet, yacht etc This administration is a self centred, insensitive one Which is like a weapon fashioned against Nigerians |

AllBlack:is it the job of NLC to pilot the affairs of the masses? Did Nigerians voted for this NLC in the last elections? What are your senators and representatives doing? It is their job to check mate the executive government and be the voice for masses. NLC should focus on the welfare of their members. |

hmohammed:You sound unlettered. Government makes policies targeted at reducing inflationary pressure, unemployment and maintaining a quality standard of living. Petrol price is a major determinant of the trajectory of other economic variables in Nigeria, as it is the main-stay of Nigeria economy. So, it is the duty of the government to explore different ways to reduce the price either by subsidy or PPP arrangement. |

Chukwudi4naija:Forget subsidy. Any other ideas? You are accusing someone of being unlettered when it is you that is failing to understand that this is a globally priced product. Simply because it comes out of the ground in Nigeria it must be cheap. You ignore the fx component of extraction, refinining and storage and the other side of the revenue balance sheet for a simplistic " let us throw something at the government" argument. You will probably want us to return to the state subsidized pre telco NITEL era of cheap calls with low access and value added. No one will invest in any sector that is not profitable. Simple. Prices fall in the long term. Knee jerk responses to price fluctuation are Infantile. If you went to university in NG was your education not massively subsidized? Was it not the massive subsidies you enjoyed in education, fx, power etc that are causing problems for the next generation. And you want to perpetuate that? Please. |

The NLC is being led by stupid people! I am sorry to say that. How can any serious person blame the FG for this? The PMS pricing is out of FG'e hand! FG no longer has a say in the pricing of PMS! Did same NLC praise the government when PMS price reduced? Nonsense!!!! |

Chukwudi4naija:From what you have written up there, it is obvious you are very lettered but lack basic economic sense. I do not expect you to know it all, but where you fall short, try to ask question or seek clarity and do not think big english will conceal your ignorance of the subject matter. |

BreconHills:You are really delusional about this 'Globally priced product' mumbo jumbo. Why are other oil producing countries not adhering to that? Something sourced at your backyard is beyond your reach. What is wrong with subsidising a product that affects the curve of other variables, which are food prices, transportation, employment, etc? Does it mean the resources for exploration, refining and storage cannot be sourced locally? No nation that wants quality standard of living not subsidise most of its necessities, even when they are globally priced product you people are using to gaslight the populace. |

What is wrong with NLC? Is it FG that controls crude oil prices or NLC wants the reintroduction of subsidy? adenigga: |
| Re: NLC Faults Fresh Petrol Price Hike, Says FG Insensitive by BreconHills(m): 1:59pm On Jan 20, 2025 |
Chukwudi4naija:Let me make this very simple. What is the true cost of the subsidy? 1. Lower margins for OIO's, lower/no investment in new fields, rigs, leading to lower production numbers. Lower production numbers means lower fx revenue. Dangote, and all the other refineries will collapse or import to serve overseas markets if they can find them. 2. Subsidies are also a tax on government forward fx revenues. Meaning lower reserve numbers and hence inability of manufacturers and business to secure replacement parts and production inputs. 3. Without a shadow of doubt 1 and 2 will still lead to the inflation you are trying to avoid as fx priced inputs skyrocket with an exchange rate closer to $3000 - 3500 based on low fx. 4. Don't forget that of the $41bn in reserves now some has been committed to debt repayments and sovereign obligations - your subsidies will eat into this and turn 11 month import cover of today into 0-1 month cover. Only a madman or a person advised by a madman will be talking of subsidising fuel which supplies the bulk of Nigerias fx. Nigeria is going through what every developed country has gone through and it will stay the course. There will be no deviation |

| Re: NLC Faults Fresh Petrol Price Hike, Says FG Insensitive by blueAgent(m): 3:36pm On Jan 20, 2025 |
Godjone:So you believed that lie by APC Zombie supporters? The major determinants of the price of PMS is the price of crude oil and not the number of oil refineries you have. Crude oil prices is fixed by international market forces and not by the Nigerian government. |
