Regards boss, I'm about to graduate as ALX software engineer by month end, how can I secure a paying tech job, please?
Package yourself, build random stuffs even if it ain't fully functional or widely popular. Those are the things you would 'brag' about to prospective employers.

Remember, only you know what you did, how you sell it to them is all that matters.

Bro lets network my email is rillconcept@gmail.com

Remote. C. C. 2100€ without overtime. And I'm notorious for overtime

Edit
Go online and learn a tech skill e.g coursera etc.

The fasted way to get a remote job aside networking is via LinkedIn. Setup your profile and start "boombing without apologies "

If you are so good and want to go freelance, hoop unto fiverr and upwork etc

Thank God for this exchange rate.

Are you talking about Nigeria owned company or companies in Nigeria.

I know more than 50 people that earn over a million per month.

Earning 1m in Nigeria today doesn't mean you are rich. You are just average or even a little bit below average.

This topic has made me realise that there are so many extremely poor people in Nigeria especially on nairaland.

I earn more than that a month and I am still struggling financially.
that's the sad thing. Gone are the days when 18m per annum pay meant you were rich. With the economy now, you are def comfortable, won't want for much and shouldn't struggle financially (if you have your finances in order) but still won't be termed rich. Just 5 years ago that sort of annual pay can qualify as rich, but now 18m salary for a year untouched won't even buy you a Tokunbo RX350 2012. That's how you know balablu has furrrcked everyone over

There are many companies that pay such as salaries to employees in Nigeria. Most notably are oil companies, banks, professional services firms, investment banks and tech as the new kids on the block.

Pre-Corona as my job focused on graduate trainee positions.

Royal Dutch Shell paid 600-700 abi 800K per month. Addax paid close to a million. ExxonMobil paid above a million. Total paid two million. Banks paid well too especially to graduate trainees. Access was noted for paying 250K per month while STANBIC IBTC paid 300K. Audit firms paid very well, and once those trained by the Big4 moved to oil companies, they earned almost or above a million. FMCG companies paid similar earnings to brand managers. Vetiva was paying graduate trainees 250K - 300K. Now imagine how much managers were earning.

How I wish I kept an Excel track of the salaries. Well, post-Covid, salaries cannot remain the same due to inflation and the Canada exodus which made the audit firms increased their salaries to either retain staff or attract new staff. As I asked my friend who works at UBA, this is what she gave me:

New GT bank Salary

ET- N452k ,

ABO- N720k

BO- N900+

SBO+ N1M+

New FBN Salary

ET- N372k ,ET Tech -N523k

BA- N 497k BA Tech - N713k

ABO- N618k

BO- N900+

SBO+ N1M+

UBA Salary

ET- 376k

ABO- 558k

BO- 800-850k

SBO - 1M+

Federal establishments such as CBN, AMCON, DMO, NIMASA, NNPC paid very well with some staff, senior employees, earning more than a million.

P.S. All salaries exclude bonuses.
Senior analysts at finance and investment firms such FSDH & Co earn more than a million per month. Pre-Corona, Seplat paid graduate trainees 500K - the highest indigenous oil and gas company - which was close to Shell's entry-level salary. As I mentioned, the likes of Vetiva, ChapelHillDenham, Meristem all paid above 250K to grad trainees. Private equity firms were paying close to if not more than 400K. NLNG paid close to a million or more to entry-level staff. One of the silent highest salaried companies out there. Engagement Managers and its equivalent at McKinsey & Co., and Boston Consulting Group earned more than a million naira. No Bain & Company as only God knows the effect of Buharinomics that made the firm to shut down operations. Tensa20 says PayStack and the very good tech firms pay 1M+ with bountiful benefits. Programmers working at banks have a different salary structure from the rest of their colleagues, and you can easily hit a million plus within two years.

You are a poor person and with this your mentality, you will remain poor.

Appzone pays above 1M
Many coded tech companies pay above 1M
Tech Boys in Moniepoint collect more than that.
Parthian Partners pay far more
Systemspecs pay more for tech roles

I have a boy who just finished from a SW Uni. Motion Designer. He's collecting 1.2M per month. He hasn't even done NYSC. Remote worker.

Not everyone is on your extreme poverty level. Shut up and sit this discussion out.
Thank you for mentioning the names of those companies. We need posts like this and many more.

You need to expand your horizon.

Several organisations both local and foreign pay above the 1 Million Naira mark.

It would reflect a lack of prudence to state the names of the companies here. I can however assure you that you are limited in your scope primarily because you are only a slave to what you know which in turn forms your beliefs.

I know several FMCG firms that pay beyond 1 Million for experienced hires. By the way....,I've 18 years experience in Human Capital Sourcing and Development....I should know.

Because their loved ones do not automatically start billing them excessively. Neither do they become a target for kidnappers. The reason is quite simple.

No company in Nigeria can pay you such amount monthly unless your business is recording a tremendous amount of success or you're earning in USD.

That's the only way you can hit the 1m mark monthly.
lol stop saying what you don’t know oo. Am a corporate travel consultant I earn more than that monthly though as a business man. but my point is I fill visa form for some of my corporate clients and seeing their pay slip you go know say people are earning more than 1m with a lot of benefits. The minimum company spend on them on traveling a year is more than 20m am not capping. That why am encouraging anyone I know don’t just go school study demanding course.

Poco, I understand, but this is Nairaland - our own Reddit. Why hide salaries? For instance, if anyone sends a PM, don't respond, but at least spill the information. Even if na range.

Is it ghosts on Nairaland?😃
Is it not the relatives, friends, husbands and wives of people working in these organisations?

The reason Nigerians hide their pay is black tax and insecurity. I wanted to go ask my friend the name of her firm and the pay range, but I remembered she tried to help submit my CV years ago and do you know she refused to tell me the salary expectation? She didn't want me to do the Maths and get her range. All she kept saying is they pay more than banks.

Also, in this iteration of Nairaland, professionals are a minority. You will find yourself arguing over things that are self evident.

You will either be accused of being a liar, or some bad belle pipu will start stalking you and praying for your downfall
