Scores of Terrorists Killed as Troops Sweep Camps in Nigeria’s Sokoto and Kebbi Troops of the Nigerian Army, under the banner of Operation Fansan Yanma, have dealt a decisive blow to terrorist groups operating in Sokoto and Kebbi states. In a series of special operations targeting Local Government Areas (LGAs) including Illela, Tangaza, Gudu, Binji, and Silami in Sokoto State, as well as Augie, Arewa, Argungu, and Dandi LGAs in Kebbi State, the troops successfully neutralized over 20 terrorists and dismantled their camps, forcing them to abandon their hideouts. The clearance operations, aimed at restoring peace and security in affected areas, saw the troops sweeping through terrorist enclaves in TSAUNA, BAUNI, and SARMA forests. The Army’s thrust pushed deep into critical locations, flushing out terrorists, destroying their camps, and recovering logistical items. In SARMA RUGA, located at coordinates, 20 terrorists were killed during intense engagements. Fleeing terrorists abandoned their weapons, hideouts, and supplies, many of which were subsequently destroyed by troops. Another significant development was the clearing of MANJA village which had been deserted for four years due to banditry and terrorist activities. Encouragingly, locals have begun returning to their homes, expressing joy and gratitude to the Nigerian Army for liberating the area. Further operations led to the discovery and clearance of a newly established terrorist camp near MAI HILLS, abandoned terrorist logistics, including essential supplies, were found. Troops pressed on to JAIMA village, a border community where Nigerien troops were reported to conduct patrols. The troops advanced to additional key locations, including TAFKIN TARAMNA village and TUMBULUMKUM village. In their wake, ambush positions and standing patrols were established to monitor terrorist movements and sustain pressure on fleeing groups. Source: @zagazola

Notorious Bandit Leader Bello Turji on the run as Military dislodged camp, killed his son Combined ground and air troops under Operation Fansan Yanma have escalated their offensive against the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji in Zamfara State. Recent coordinated military strikes have dismantled key hideouts in Fakai, a stronghold in Shinkafi Local Government Area, where Turji and his associates have long operated. This comes after a series of successful missions that resulted in the destruction of multiple bandit camps in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Among the camps targeted were Zangon Dan Gwandi, Zangon Tsaika, Zangon Kagara, and a school reportedly used by Turji to store foodstuffs and weapons. The military burned the school to prevent it from serving as a supply base for Turji’s network. Intelligence sources comfirmed to Zagazola Makama that Turji’s group has suffered significant losses. “We killed his son and many of his fighters during the operation. I also listened to Turji’s panicked voice calling for reinforcements from seven other bandit leaders. None of them showed up, and one of his spies narrowly escaped from us today,” the sources said. A considerable number of Turji’s associates, including high profile lieutenants and possibly family members, were neutralized during the targeted strikes. Further reports reveal that four of Turji’s fighters were injured in previous encounters, while others have retreated to Mangwarorin Gebe, allegedly hiding stolen livestock and valuables. The operation, described as strategic and carefully planned, is primarily led by a special forces with support from the General Officer Commanding (GOC). The special forces are supplemented by personnel from the Navy’s Special Boat Service (SBS), provided by the Theatre Command This operation is one of the most decisive efforts in recent times. Our forces are committed to ending the impunity of notorious bandits. This is a sustained campaign to dismantle these networks completely.” Recent military successes have been attributed to proactive intelligence sharing and early warning systems, which facilitated the evacuation of civilians from high risk areas, thereby reducing collateral damage. The Nigerian Air Force executed a series of precise airstrikes, dismantling crucial hideouts and significantly undermining Turji’s operational capabilities. Elite troops from Operation Hadarin Daji and the special forces unit of Operation Fansan Yamma have strategically positioned themselves along key escape routes. Credible intelligence indicates that Turji was last sighted at Zangon Gebe, where he remains surrounded by his heavily armed fighters. More details Source; @Zagazola |

Military Scores Major Victories Against Bandits in Operation Fansan Yanma The Nigerian military has intensified operations under Operation Fansan Yanma, delivering a series of decisive blows to bandit strongholds in the northwest. Over the past week, troops launched sustained offensives against camps controlled by notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, neutralizing scores of his fighters and destroying key hideouts in Fakai and Shinkafi forests. Many bandits and their collaborators have been captured alive. The military’s coordinated efforts, including airstrikes and ground assaults, have left bandits in disarray, forcing them to abandon their camps and flee in desperation. Many of the bandits have been seen running helter skelter, frantically searching for new hiding spots as the military tightens its grip on the region. Reports indicate that several bandit leaders are now scattered, unable to regroup due to the continuous pressure. With almost all escape routes effectively closed, the military has strategically sealed major transit corridors used by the bandits to evade capture. These measures, combined with the destruction of supply lines, have significantly weakened their operational capabilities. The success of Operation Fansan Yanma signals a critical turning point in the fight against banditry, as the military sustains its mission to eliminate criminal elements and restore peace to affected communities. UPDATE ON BELLO TURJI AND MOVEMENT OF BANDITS IN MARADUN LGA Reports have emerged indicating the suspected presence of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji in Maradun Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State. Loyalists to Turji, traveling on motorcycles and carrying casualties, were observed by local residents on the evening of January 19 and the morning of January 20, 2025, moving toward the Garsa/Kadanya area in Bayanruwa Den. According to eyewitnesses, the fleeing bandits traversed a route that included Galadi, Damaga, Rudunu, and Danbenchi, and some have reportedly been spotted near the Rudunu, Bankamawa, and Farfaru areas under Faru District, as previously reported. Further intelligence suggests that Bello Turji, alongside some of his men, is currently at the Garsa/Kadanya hideout, hosted by Jummo Smally, a former rival of Turji. No hiding place for Turji Source: @Zagazola |

DRC Military How is it possible for the DRC hierarchy to optimally equip their army while Nigeria is stuck with AK47 as primary weapons? While CDS keeps moaning about access to weapons. I don't understand.

Bandit Leaders Surrender Arms and Captives in Batsari, Katsina State Following intense military operations by the combined forces of Op FASAN YANMA, bandit leaders Abu Radde and Umar Black, operating in Batsari and Safana LGAs in Katsina State have surrendered their arms and captives. This move marks a significant step towards ending banditry and criminality in the region. The surrender ceremony, which took place on January 19, 2025 at Batsari, was attended by all stakeholders, including military representatives, to ensure transparency. The bandits handed over four AK47 rifles and 15 captives, comprising three males, eight females, and four children. It was emphasized that this surrender was not a negotiation or peace meeting, but rather a crucial step towards the bandits' complete disarmament and release of all kidnapped victims. The surrendered arms, which are in good condition, are now in the custody of the 17 Brigade, while the rescued captives have been handed over to the Local Government Authorities for rehabilitation and aftercare. |

When I complain about gear I am talking about things like protective gear (vest + helmet), webbings for ammo, first aid, food/water, comms. What I see guys talk is about "how they look". We've been on this thread long enough to distinguish between how cool a soldier looks to knowing what gear rightly means |

Odunayaw:No body is talking about how they look or the aesthetics. We are talking about basic webbing and gear for a soldier, say less of a SOF. The last time I was impressed by NA/DHQ SOF was when they just arrived from Belarus/Pakistan to the Northeast theatre. You see NA SOF with black ballistic vest that can bear lying carry 4 magazines, radio/coms. You only see the commander with radio and who introduced this black vest into the inventory? |

Odunayaw:Those guys carry basic equipment & quality gear, compared to our present SOF in various theatre. Miss those days when DHQSOF where kicking BHT ass, I don't know why the NA/DHQ authority can't maintain standard of equipping at least for SOF. You can check @hammersofwar & @congotask for more photos of this guys.

bidexiii:Bello Turji Frees All Captives Amid Intensified Military Pressure In a surprising turn of events, notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has reportedly released all individuals held captive by his group. The development comes amid heightened military operations aimed at capturing the fugitive and dismantling his network in Zamfara State and surrounding regions. Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that Turji’s decision to free the captives is linked to the intense pressure mounted by the Nigerian Armed Forces under Operation Hadarin Daji and Operation Forest Sanity. Recent airstrikes and ground offensives targeting his hideouts in Fakai, Shinkafi, and surrounding areas have significantly weakened his group, forcing them into retreat. The release of the captives is being seen as a strategic move by Turji to avoid further escalation or a direct confrontation with security forces who have been closing in on him. The troops have vowed to get him whether “Dead or Alive. |
