FUN FACT: #Nigeria spent $32 million to build 'Nigeria House' in Manhattan. Opened 1993.

IBB did it.

828 Second Avenue, one block from the UNHQ.

22 floors, 91,000 square feet of space, views of the East River.

Also the first-ever Nigerian Mission building to be constructed from scratch.

As at the time this edifice was constructed, the Chinese, the Singaporeans, the Japanese and even the Arabians were busy building up their home cities, with towering skyscrapers all over the places, meanwhile Nigerian rulers infected with a very virulent strand of colonial mentality, were all busy building up New York, London and Paris! Tells you all you need to know about the mentality of the average African ruler. And they are still doing it today..

This is one of Awolowo's legacy that Nigeria later claimed. It was previously known as Western Nigeria House and is located in London.

When the time comes, Yoruba people will reclaim their property. Someone bought the property with Yoruba tax payers' money. If you want, use £40 trillion to develop infrastructure....The owner will return to claim their property.

There is other property in Saudi Arabia that the Awolowo regime purchased with Yoruba tax payer money. Aside from the Yoruba people, let any tribe come out and tell us what they contributed, except for the Niger Delta.
Yoruba territory is suffering greatly from the rhetoric of One Nigeria.... true federalism or nothing....

It was around this same time Nigeria was using her resources to form Big Brother in Africa, wasting billions on different peace keeping missions in other countries. What have we gained from it today? Nothing!

Stop looking at things from a parochial perspective. The fact it's just a block away from a UN building, should tell you that they're trying to circumvent the need of paying exorbitant fees to lodge officials for UN gathering.

That's foresight.

Stick to Amala politics. This house is located in New York and was built by IBB from the scratch. So where did Awolowo come in?

Why couldn't the foolish leaders build something like that in Nigeria is what he asked.
Infrastructures make a nation because they attract people who will help in developing your economy and even the country.
Look at Dubai today.
Obasanjo squadered Nigeria's money on frivolities like Festac etc.So were others that were there before and after him.
Very dumb leaders.

There's wisdom in the words : MIND YA BUSINESS

But our leaders will never learn. Or maybe they learnt but are too lazy and cowardly to implement anything up building for the country...

I don't care how incensed or emotional you're about this. This so could building pale in comparison with plethora of them we've in Abuja where I stay or even Lagos, not talking of others that exist in various cities in Nigeria.

The fact that you're yet to fence your house, does not negate the need of working on or taking care of the shop.
It's common sense.

This building was started by Aguiyi Ironsi but he couldn't complete it due to his murder.

The building is located in Paris France. We ought to give the glory to Ironsi who started it but IBB completed it.

One day Ndigbo will reclaim back their property once Biafra is actualized.
