I understand where you come from. However, with the presence of the Internet, information has been democratised and is universal. Laptops and phones are now cheaper than ever before. The issue I see is location and the determination. Some people have the phobia to change locations which could be, and actually is, very critical to their future success.

I had a friend who made a first class and was always lamenting of being called for aptitude tests in Lagos whereas he was based in Aba. The constant travelling and costs made him resigned from job hunting and decided to travel to Dubai to "hustle" (as I was told since we parted ties). However, I had another female acquaintance who was and is based in Lagos - so no excuses for aptitude tests - but wasn't informed of the many opportunities in the industry she was in. Meanwhile, I have another senior classmate who moved to Lagos, did his MSc at UNILAG and has worked in different corporations, and is doing very well. In a few years time, I believe he too will earn a million naira (the industry isn't that lucrative compared to finance or oil and gas). Yet again, I've another who moved to Abuja and got a sales role. Unlike the first three I mentioned, this lass had a second class lower, but she earns more than a million naira and got a company car and accommodation..

Two things characterise everyone: determination and location.

I believe the gentleman is talking about Dawanau market in Kano state. The market is huge for grains, pepper, onions and other commodities. Plus since Kano is relatively safe compared to other northern states in Nigeria, businessmen from the south feel comfortable coming down here to buy.

yea, thanks. But lemme ask you were you a garri soaker when growing up.? One who wasn’t brought up under the abject poverty circumstances can never in any way settle for less. There are even many masters who are jobless, was it not determination that got them there.? Where I work, about 4 ppl minus the MD earns over 1.5m..funny thing it's a one man's business but a very big company.. I don't want to mention names here.. Most HODs there earn from 700k-1m.. Bro pray to God to put u in a position where u would enjoy, there are life changing jobs in this country, not even multinationals, indigenous companies..

About 19years ago as a final year student, I tell my friends I wasn't going to start with less than N120k. If you must know, most entry level jobs in Nigeria today range from between 150k-200k

To even earn 500k sef you'll have spent a considerable number of years and gained relevant experience.

keep deceiving yourself and working for peanuts. i can tell you here now that alots of company pay way more above that cheap change.
Me for example i cannot accept any salary right now in Nigeria that is below N1.5M per month. 10 years ago i was earning over N500K naira that is over $3000. now you i am even earning below what i used to earn 10years ago. most of my former colleagues have all gotten jobs abroad in qatar and some African coutries me i am looking for a way, now i am earning far less than i was earning 10 years ago. even though i pegg my minimum salary at N2M per month. Anyway i am in the oil and gas field.

No company in Nigeria can pay you such amount monthly unless your business is recording a tremendous amount of success or you're earning in USD.

That's the only way you can hit the 1m mark monthly.

Sorry for disturbing you. My last question. So the business is in two ways. Firstly, you supply from the north to people in the south and they pay you in return. Secondly, you buy from the north and carry it to your shop in the south and start selling to customers. Am i correct?
