I've used BMW e46 for over 15 years with no major repairs. I drive it from Warri to Kaduna and back, ones every two to three months. Most of the parts are very cheap and durable.

The dude is here just to catch fun.

I wonder why no one bothers about the competence of workmen in fixing autos.
Yes! competence is the issue and not the vehicle.

when you have mechanics that all they mainly know is how to first remove the thermostat from vehicles citing temperature as the reason keeps baffling me .

before any vehicle is allowed to be used on roads, there are standard it passes before approval.

My first car was Nissan Primera (Bought by accident). Enjoyed it so much, I'd to buy newer model later. Currently use Toyota/Lexus products now. But, I can only recommend Toyota and Honda products for 1st time buyer.

Honda? If you cannot maintain a Honda, you cannot maintain any other car.
After Toyota, the next more reliable ie as far as naija is concerned is honda.

have you observed there are some vehicles that are peculiar to certain locations or regions? if you have anyone in Jos, Plateau state for example, ask them the popular vehicles being used.

if you go to Benin Republic, even from Badagary , you would behold so many mazda brands

Typing:
BMW are popular Cars in Kaduna. The major issue I had with mine was over heating. This usually happen when the expansion tank burst. The expansion tank is made of plastic. Over heating usually occur when you did not properly bleed out air in the cooling system, via the expansion tank.

The parts are so cheap. Before now, back shock absorber is 4k. While the front was 5500. And the shock absorber last for years. I can personally fix some minor faults on the car.

I have 2009 model of 320i the car is good but I first fell into the hand of incompetent mechanic who destroyed my ICU on two consecutive occasions due to wrong diagnosis .. it was at the verge of selling the car off that I got a good technician to fix it and ever since then ,it has been serving very well

you mean an average earner who plan to own a car for the first time .... if you have money you can drive anything .

Don't put BMW among the list. It was my first car(e36) and I really enjoyed it. So also all my friends that used and some are still using it.

Vehicle manufacturers should produce a Special Brand of Cars only for Nigerians
1. A car they can drive for 15 years without visiting a mechanic Workshop.
2. A car they would drive from Lagos to Asaba and Return with only 10k fuel

I have driven Nissan Xterra 2002 and Nissan Xterra 2006 models, I love both infact I actually bought the 2006 version because of how much I loved the 2002 version.
So what was the bad experience you had with Nissan

For me anything Fourunner don't venture there. I think it is the only product where Toyota failed especially in the editions before 2010
