NB: No request for proof of employment, no proof of finance, no request for any document.
Tip: just be as honest as possible and prove home ties and financial capacity; don't wait till you are asked about family till you prove your home ties.

I wanted to share my timeline and ask for insights from others who’ve experienced this process recently.
• Document drop-off date: Dec 20th
• Case created date: Dec 23rd
• Case last updated date: Dec 27th
Status still reads Application Received
I’m scheduled to return to the U.S. on January 17th,but I’m still waiting for my passport from the embassy.

Has anyone been in a similar situation recently? How long did it take after the last case update to receive your passport? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

To see if its there, if it is you can schedule appointment on OIS site for pickup

Please how best to get avits to update my ds160 and the application number on my interview letter. I filled out a new ds160 as they told me to update my new passport number and traveled history, but they have been delaying to update that since last week. Interview is coming soon

Is it Lagos or Abuja. It may be February 2026 for Lagos because that's the available date for Lagos at the moment but some people don't check it very well. They will think it's 2025.

Greetings. Interview was successful and my mother got approved for the visiting visa. I'll come back to post interviewer questions and my mother's answers. We answered all questions on DS-160 truthfully.

Am filling out DS 160 for my parent. Some years ago, I filed I-130 but the application was unsuccessful. On the DS 160 form, there is question "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?" Should we answer Yes? Hoping this won't give parent reason for denial although parent has visited me in US years ago before filing a I-130.

We submitted a ticket with explanation on the avits website. It's supposed to take them 48 hours. You can also try calling their support number, which we did. The DS-160 number got changed on time (day before interview).

Congrats on your mum's visa. I saw that your mum's I-130 was denied in the past. Do you mind sharing the reason for this denial? I am considering filing I-130 for my mum and I want to know if there is anything that can trip up her application. She comes to the U.S. regularly and never stays more than 8 weeks at any time, except when she was a student here a very long time ago. She currently has a 5-year B1/B2 visa that was issued last year.

Firstly, submitted incorrect birth certificate (National Population Commission Attestation of Birth Certificate deemed unacceptable although accepted when I applied for my own green card at the time) and got RFE to send in the proper one, but it didn't come on time from Nigeria.

Applied since 20th September; and since then haven't been able to schedule interview; raising support ticket via the avits portal is so unreliable and complete waste of time; took the advise of people on this platform to send email to LagosNIV@state.gov;

Today I got an email which doesn't really solve the problem; is anyone in this kind of situation and got this kind of email response from the consulate?

wow, maybe you should just go to OIS office if you're in Lagos. and check there.
Maybe reach lagos consulate by email and use subject line to put details of your case. You need to get back to the US

I read your summary at least 3 times. Where did you prove home ties and financial capacity, which you claim is a tip?

Please do not confuse others... you had an advantage - you live and work in the UK and are far less likely to want to stay in the US. That is not the case for someone applying from Nigeria.

pls house is it possible to pick Lagos in my DS-160 form and when I want to book an appointment on the new Avits website I can choose Abuja as my appointment location

I made MRV payments for my son and I since October 29, 2024 and I am still unable to proceed to book an appointment.
It tells me Bank details updated successfully and yet no progress.
It's been nearly 3 months of frustration.

Do I create a new profile and upload the payment details, will that work?
Can I get a refund and restart again?
This is over N700,000.
Please I need urgent guidance.

I'm not sure I saw something like that. The questions were a series of questions similar to what was asked on the old portal.

Now, on the appointment calendar, there is Consular appointment calendar and OIS calendar, which one would I choose? Though there are no appointment date available on both calenders.
