diamond68:Many immigrants face health challenges due to the stress of migration, harsh weather, demanding work, and dietary or lifestyle changes, which can weaken the body and impact their ability to cope abroad. 🥴Prioritizing health through proper rest, nutrition, exercise, and adapting to the new climate is crucial to thriving in a foreign environment.😊 |

diamond68:kindly re read this thing you wrote and ask yourself is it makes sense. While i was in the uk 2005-2008 there were many Nigerians over the age of 50 working menial jobs that year. There were others that went as doctors and nurses working over 12 hours daily. Majority no die. It is illiteracy to say cold will enter your body like you dont have jacket. In the USA there are women who came to do omugwo and didn’t return back. And are now hustling some over 60 years self. Abeg Abeg. This is 2025 plan your japa well, acquire relevant skills so you can get office jobs or easy blue collar jobs. A few people have died in the UK tho. Mainly students who were over working to pay school fees. Compared to the over 30k 9ja students in Uk people wey don die no reach 50. 😒 |

This one thinks employers there are as heartless as our brothers here. The white man provides all your needs so he can squeeze all productivity out of you. |

You make a valid point. Many people underestimate how much physical and mental health can impact their ability to adapt to life abroad, especially in a country like the UK where the environment and work culture can be very different from home. The cold weather, long hours, and high physical demand in certain jobs can take a toll, particularly if one’s body isn't in top shape. There are cases where people move abroad only to realize they can’t keep up with the pace of life or the physical demands of their jobs, especially in fields like construction, healthcare, or manual labor. It’s why some return home, as they realize that the "hustle" abroad isn't as rosy as it seems. Building stamina and maintaining good health before moving is crucial. And for those already there, they often struggle to strike a balance between making money and staying healthy. |

ednut1:Haha alaye only you one wan eat all this moose meat ? You for buy maple syrup join na. Well everyone is doing the little they can. Nigeria is not as bad as presented. It's the people not the country. Too much werey in the people is honestly our problem. The people act like unguarded savages everywhere including when driving. If we can tame the savages Nigeria would be great. That's my honest opinion. Too many savages Oh that's my dawg solofresh2 not an alternate account. |

diamond68:there is nothing that gives hope that Nigeria will be great. Is there any industry that is in global demand thriving in Nigeria. Savages like MC Oluomo, Tony Kabaka, Asari have backing of president and governors for example. Agberos can prevent people from voting during elections. When you say tame savages, what exactly can you do Continue to deceive yourself you hear

diamond68:Cold weather does not cause a body to deteriorate. So, you can't blame the weather for your refusal to learn how to dress properly in harsh weather conditions. ![]() 2. This is the same hard work many people who live in Nigeria — expatriates for example working with international companies — do. So, if you are allergic to hard work, it is not abroad that is the problem, nor is it Nigerian to abhor hard work but your lack of discipline that is the problem. ![]() |

Maybe this is an unfair statement, but "hard work" abroad generally pales in comparison to hard work in Nigeria, unless you're talking about working for the mining industry or construction or something. Like, abroad they're using machines and power tools, but in Nigeria, a lot of dudes are using pure muscle and hand tools or no tools. I think the perception of labor abroad may be fueled by people who are office workers and managers in Nigeria, and then they're doing blue collar stuff they've never done before abroad. A lot of new immigrants are doing Uber, warehouse, kitchen, hospitality, fast food, and retail jobs. You're mostly in a heated/airconditioned building or car doing light physical labor. Your biggest problem will be dealing with a douchebag boss or coworker. Some warehouse jobs can be physically demanding, but usually not miserable, unless you're working illegally or like in the south somewhere. The more unpleasant warehouse jobs also tend to pay a bit more, so there's that tradeoff. Uber can pay pretty well, but I suppose it can be dicey if you're doing it in a not so great area. But you can somewhat control who you come into contact with. |

Cousin9999:That was the reaction by some Nigerians to those in the UK who complained of working conditions and long hours. Those in Nigeria who worked in bakeries and factories laughed and wondered why those in the UK are complaining as if the conditions in the UK could be worse than in Nigeria. Some wondered why office managers left rather than them wey don tey for manual labour in Nigeria. |
| Re: What If After You Japa your Body Breaks Down And You Can't Work ? by Cousin9999: 5:38am On Jan 24, 2025 |
Gerrard59:I think there's also some ego and bursted bubbles in the complaining. They think those jobs are beneath them, which is ridiculous. And they never expected to be doing them. They thought they would easily get a white collar job. I guess they never heard stories about Russian doctors driving cabs in America. |
| Re: What If After You Japa your Body Breaks Down And You Can't Work ? by franchasofficia: 5:50am On Jan 24, 2025 |
ednut1:But Canada's cold weather can kill somebody oh lol Especially if you are working in the logistics, construction fast food or engineering workshops with less heating and more exposure to the outside environment. People in care jobs, nursing, medicine or let me say healthcare don't even have a problem cos they work in well controlled temperature environments unlike those doing security job, logistics deliveries, forklift drivers, drivers, etc. But you said it all, it's all about planning and getting the right skills and information before moving, it is well with Nigerians |
| Re: What If After You Japa your Body Breaks Down And You Can't Work ? by franchasofficia: 6:06am On Jan 24, 2025 |
Cousin9999:You are very correct. Anyone doing a white collar job in Nigeria or those that own their own successful business in Nigeria will most likely complain about the job they will get abroad if they decide to Japa unless they are lucky to land high profile job or another white collar job abroad on arrival or before leaving Nigeria. But for those struggling in Nigeria already and doing normal Nigeria jobs, they will even be doing overtime abroad because abroad own will be like childsplay to them compared to what they were doing back in Nigeria with less financial reward. Imagine those my Igbo brothers hustling at Ladipo spare parts market and in other physically strenuous jobs in Nigeria relocating abroad, in fact their work rate and strength will overwhelm their oyimbo employer ![]() So na mostly managers, business owners, and ajebutters for Nigeria de complain that their job abroad is strenuous when they japa |

lol People need to stop exaggerating about the cold. All you need is thermal gear. The worst it gets is in windy places. But all you need for that is a windproof jacket. Costs like $20. Long johns, fleece, and bubble jackets will have you comfortable if you have to work in a cold warehouse. A set of long johns is like $20, but you can find it for less. A fleece jacket is like $10 or $20. You can get a decent puffer jacket for like $30. Also, companies know you need this gear to work, so some of them will buy it. You can even buy heat packs. Hothands makes warmers for every part of the body, and they last hours. You can buy a value bag for $8. https://hothands.com/products/ |

ednut1:There are thriving industries with global potential, such as tech (e.g., Flutterwave), entertainment (Nollywood, Afrobeats), and agriculture. Change is possible with better leadership, accountability, and citizen action, as seen in movements like #EndSARS. Hope isn’t lost, but progress requires collective effort. |

Solofresh2:obviously you are a paid apc agent. Endsars achieved nothing as police brutality is still rife. Most of the key people behind end sars used it to japa, many embezzled donated funds like feminists coalition. End sars didn’t happen in the north too and resulted in many unnecessary deaths. Change is possible with better leadership indeed. In a place where inec rigs for the highest bidder. Someone like edo governor suppose fit win election in a normal society? You talk about agriculture, that farmers are being beheaded by boko haram and lakurawa . The afrobeats self its oyinbo that is pushing it and making most of the money. The streaming companies are in the abroad, the o2 arena, maddision square garden shows are in the abroad where their government will tax the revenue. All the best in you delulu. As for me i have japa, obtained Canadian citizenship, enjoying high standard of living, good healthcare, working a top multinational 🤪 |

Cousin9999:werey you think it’s that one you do in Nigeria where you work 30 minutes then rest and gist for 2 hours ? Forget that thing the hardest workers in naija breakdown easily in uk workforce. That’s why like 50 Nigerians died on the job in the uk in 2024. If white man say you go load truck for 12 hours oh boy no gisting or resting or sitting down oooo ? All 12 hours you go Dey load the truck Dey carry load. Forget that thing ooo. It’s not about power. It’s about very strong health and very strong mind and very strong stamina. If your mind no strong you no fit handle 12 hour shift for uk. The depression of the clock going very slowly will kill you sef. Your mind must be very strong. 5 hours in all your muscle done weak and you done tire and you come look clock, 7 more hours to go. Oh boy your mind go just weak |
