The TV right money which I contribute to gives me that right. I don't criticize Fernabache players, I don't watch them cos I can't pay to watch them.

I also expect pundits to criticize in a constructive and professional manner. That's what they are paid to do.

Imagine saying someone whose job actually requires him to criticise footballers has no right to criticise but you whose job is actually to support footballers ( as a football supporter) has such a right.

People some of who could not make their secondary school team or even their class team are good enough to criticise professional footballers but those who went beyond that and were actual pros have no right.

We had so many of those bros who wasted their years going for trainings, playing local competitions and even going outside the country for trials strictly on self-sponsorship level.

Some of those bros are now in their 40's now, no skill whatsoever, they didn't learn a trade and don't have education beyond ND at most. This dampened the spirit of parents, and they forbade most of their kids from towing that same line. The few ones who made it to play in NPFL, other African country leagues and eastern Europe quickly relocated their parents. Even when those ones come around and bring agents to do preliminary talent hunt/trials at the local field, the few people who still get selected still have to deal with possibility of rejection when they go for trial outside the country. The margin of success was just too low that parents will force their kids to go to school over choosing a career in football.

However, now with the advent of social media and youtube being a veritable tool for posting clips of how good an amateur player is; I think the odds are much better in favor of the young talents.

that is why successful first generation athletes and artistes are usually from very poor backgrounds. they never had anything to lose in the first place. but you already have opportunities available to you - and your parents were weighing the risks.

and it is much worse with football in particular which has a very narrow window in which you can hammer.
