That's the reason I regard the U-17 as our most important football age cadre because they're the only players who are MRI age-tested by FIFA and are (close to) the ages they claim.

Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Kingsley Michael are products of the MRI era U-17 Golden Eaglets teams who are still playing actively today.

Even those ones are older than 17 when they played U-17, but they didn't reduce their age as much as their elders used to back in the days. They are close to the age they claimed sha.

Last week I was at my sister's, and we were discussing how and why I didn't play professional football despite being a talented amateur footballer back then. She was curious as to why I didn't pursue a career in football, and I reminded her how our mum would not even allow me go for training while my mates whom we play set together had registered at a local academy where they all train.

Back then our parents see playing football as a means to waste away your future. There are enough bros in the area who followed the path of football and never made it to professional level despite being very good footballers. This speaks to the number 1 fact in that guy's thread which states that only about 1% of youth players make it to professional level. We had so many of those bros who wasted their years going for trainings, playing local competitions and even going outside the country for trials strictly on self-sponsorship level.

Some of those bros are now in their 40's now, no skill whatsoever, they didn't learn a trade and don't have education beyond ND at most. This dampened the spirit of parents, and they forbade most of their kids from towing that same line. The few ones who made it to play in NPFL, other African country leagues and eastern Europe quickly relocated their parents. Even when those ones come around and bring agents to do preliminary talent hunt/trials at the local field, the few people who still get selected still have to deal with possibility of rejection when they go for trial outside the country. The margin of success was just too low that parents will force their kids to go to school over choosing a career in football.

However, now with the advent of social media and youtube being a veritable tool for posting clips of how good an amateur player is; I think the odds are much better in favor of the young talents.

Those parents were right. You have a higher chance at being a Neurosurgeon than being a successful pro athlete. We all love the lives of celebrities because we see them on TV but what goes beneath is very challenging

If my kid is not extremely talented, I will bever encourage them into pro sport, not even in the western world. In most cases it ends in regret

I doubt you would have posted this if the players were not Nigerians.

If I recall the events of 2013 and 2015 Nigeria U-17 campaign cycle correctly, the bulk of the players that played the qualifiers and the African championship got dropped prior to the world cup because they failed the MRI test.

Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City was one of such casualties in 2013. The fusion of the distal radius in his wrist was adjudged to be beyond the acceptable U-17 MRI threshold.

New teams were hurriedly put together and the players who made the final cut for the U-17 competition of those years all passed the MRI test conducted by FIFA so make we accept am say dem be real U-17 then.

Every other thing na speculation.

Do u even know that u can sue the owners of a build like hotel if u get injured within their premises? Maybe they have a soak-away pit that is opened and u fell into it or u slipped on a wet surface which their cleaner just mopped.

I disagree. Na these ones even narrow pass especially basketball. The league where you make money well is the NBA. There are about 400 pro players in the NBA. So the millions of boys all over the world are trying to get into the 400 spots in NBA and competing with Jokic from Serbia, Wemby from France, Giannis from Greece, Doncic from Slovenia, Siakam from Cameroun etc

Sure there are other leagues in Europe and elsewhere but none makes as much money as NBA. Total number of pro basketballers all over the world might be less than 10000 and this will include those playing for Ebun Comets of Akure and Rivers Angels

In football, there are many leagues, almost every country has a thriving pro league even though Europe is where the money is. In Europe sef you still have multiple countries and leagues where you can get a good salary
