It's a big shame given the pedigree of Nigerian Military, we are more than capable. This is an unconventional war where the terrorists blend easily as civilians, you can't easily identify who among the people is a terrorist until you discover them with guns or dangerous weapons. These terrorists also have sympathizers among the locals who snitch on the military's movements and provide supports both financial, materials and shelter to these terrorists. Not only the locals but also some foreign donors.
If mercenaries were that effective, countries like Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger republic will not be having it even worse with foreign mercenaries deployed on their soil to help fight against the terrorists. Terrorist in these countries are expanding more territories and becoming bigger. Nigerian Army just need the cooperation of the locals and this menace will be over under 1 month.

I beg to disagree, this is similar war to the one Isreali army is fighting against Hamas,it is also an 'unconventional' war, where Hamas and even Hezbollah blends with the populace, infact in Gaza more than 80% of the people there have sympathy for Hamas, they live with them, the dig tunnels under civilian houses, hide in children hospitals and schools etc but yet the IDF uses advance technologies, proffessional informants, geo mapping etc to identify there key targets and take them out.
I am not expecting Nigerian army to operate at that highest level but the exchange of knowledge via mercenaries whom knows better. There is no shame in tapping from higher system to yours.Even Russia uses mercenaries from other countries in there war against Ukraine.
Like I said before,if our leaders can shameless go for medical tourism abroad while we have professors of medicine and other related fields in Nigeria then why now the shame on the military if they desire the assistance of mercenaries.
Deal with it!

If this had occurred in particular part of the country, the internet would have exploded with countless posts and threads from senseless, vile individuals from a certain part of the country calling for the slaughter of innocent women and children.

Nigeria’s situation has spiraled beyond control, like a rogue planet torn away from its sun, lost in chaos. What we are witnessing now defies all logic, reason, and any semblance of humanity. Even during the dying days of the Roman Empire, Roman soldiers were not subjected to this level of open, barbaric disgrace.

How can anyone look at this and think it makes sense? This story is an insult to logic, a mockery of reason, and proof that some people have abandoned all capacity for critical thought.

May the poor innocent wives and children of officers take heart. Nigeria defies empirical logic and common sense

Re: Boko Haram Kills Nigerian Army Commander, Two Senior Officers, 17 Soldiers by RhinoChest:
I think every outposts, especially remote outposts like this one should have a risk assessment evaluation as to what the options could be if assaulted and what the response should be when attacked.

1) Fortification: Say our troops are occupying a remote outpost prone to terrorist attacks, first and foremost thing the Nigerian Military ought to do is fortify such buildings to withstand any direct attacks and give time for the military to return fire.

If an abandoned school is being used as outpost nothing wrong with that but some engineer corp should go out, modify the building to offer protection in case of any direct attacks.

2) Back up:
Why would you post military operatives to zones prone to attacks and not have ways they can call for back up at moment’s notice? Every of our active outposts should have back ups and reinforcements within minutes. Outpost A should be able to assist outpost B within minutes. It should all be rehearsed daily. If outpost A and B are simultaneously being attacked, there should be outpost C that ought to come to their aid!!!! There could also be mobile brigades that could shuttle between outposts.

3) Air Support:

You don’t even need fighter jets, all you need are helicopter gunships that could get to outposts under attack within minutes and repel any attack. While repelling the attacks, ground reinforcements could further aid in repelling the attacks. Two gunships and the third helicopter dropping additional manpower could be all that is needed before more troops arrive.

You don’t need huge budget, all that’s needed are proper coordination and training with the limited resources at our military’s disposal.

Also, there should be cheap drones that could always fly above all our outposts day and nights that can provide advance warning on any impending attack to both the outpost and command and control to send back ups.

This is bad news, the Nigeria Army should deploy everything possible to annihilate these b*stards, sometimes it feels like we are left behind in military technology,I have said it over and over again, there is no shame in bringing in mercenaries from the advanced world,to help us in this war of attrition.
Afterall our politicians shamelessly goes to recieve treatment for their illnesses in abroad,we can also get these mercenaries to come and help put up military technologies that can help neutralise these b*stards from abroad. We can't keep loosing our men to these rag tags Islamists.
RIP to the fallen heroes, they died gallantly!

We should stop this deceit. Nigerian army is one of the best and strongest force in Africa.
All they need is an order to do the right thing devoid of any politics.

Banditry 2015, last I checked, terrorism did not start in 2015. A certain Party in power approved Sharia which then gave birth to a group of armed men who declared Education as Haram and wanted Nigeria be governed by Sharia. Since then, Nigeria has not had peace. So, when we're talking about the origin of terrorism in Nigeria, PDP and anyone associated or sympathetic to the party should be made to face firing squad for what they brought upon our country.

What measures would you take against an ambush attack?, how can you be too careful about an ambush?. This is Malam Fatori a stronghold of ISWAP, they control the region to the borders of Chad and Niger and Cameroon where they have also killed soldiers from these neighboring countries in their numbers. This region that stretches along the lake Chad are extremely porous and the MJTF can only patrol to a certain few kilometers along the borders to avoid unnecessary casualties. You enjoy sitting down behind your keyboard to run your mouth as an arm chair security expert.

This is not an ambush. Try to dey read before you post trash. This attack was on the super camps created by butatai to replace mini camps. It's a large base that should be secured with massive checkpoints on all points leading to the camp. The Nigeria army should go to twitter and see how camps of Russia armed forces. You can't breach the camp. You will die at the first barricade

You're making a very big mistake and your comparison with IDF is very flawed. The difference between IDF and the Nigerian Army is the fact that the IDF does not obey the rules of engagement, they go about dropping bombs on people and committing an act of genocide which had led them being dragged before the ICC and arrest warrant issued against Nentayahu. In 15 months, about 46,000 Palestinians have been murdered by the IDF. Even at that, they have failed to eliminate Hamas as they boasted to do. Hamas were parading themselves and doing a show of force during hostage release last week. The Nigerian Army is strictly complying with the rules of engagement despite the challenges, even at that, occasional collateral damage generates an outcry that the Nigerian Army comes to the media to do image laundry, meanwhile the IDF doesn't care, because they have the support of the United States. The Nigerian Army can even be more ruthless than the IDF but who will suffer?, the Northern civilians. So, let's be careful what we wish for. The IDF are committing genocide, the Nigerian Army are not and that makes us very proud of them.

Terrorism is PDP's legacy, 16years and counting. If not for APC, terrorists would have overrun the whole country. This attacks happened in the lake Chad region which is the stronghold of ISWAP. As Nigerian Military is punching the teeth of Bokoharam, ISWAP, Bandits, Lakurawa, Ipob & co, may God grant us total victory.

-Kiss the truth!
Terrorism started in states controlled by APC legacy states of Borno and Yobe. Boko haram is an offshoot of the Shari'a law that northern states controlled by APC legacy states fought for.
Even an APC chieftain did they invited bandits into the country in 2014 to destabilise it
APC is the godfather of terrorism

Good
The PDP did not control states that approved Shari'a. ANPP did and Buhari was their presidential candidate
Same ANPP merged to form APC
So anyone supporting APC should face firing squad for supporting the party that brought bandits and boko haram into the country
PDP had nothing to do with boko haram and bandits. Those guys are all APC gone rogue

This is a daring attack on a military facility but it comes with a whiff of information about operational logistics of the army base.
Someone who is disgruntled is giving these ISWAP terrorists current information and this has compromised army bases and formations.

There are saboteurs in the army and they are eliminating the remaining few patriotic soldiers who are willing to uphold the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
These ones are sent to their early graves to an area they don't know much about and are killed.

What is more sad is anytime the army attacks the terrorists they fail to provide live feed or images of the slain terrorists or bandits!
One wonders why this is so,if there are no saboteurs among the army top chain or brass then why are they afraid to end them.

Also one cannot rule out opposition politicians involved in this whole terrorism.
They too are the ones providing terrorists hard currency, weapons and ammunition and also intelligence against the Nigerian army.
What ever bad blood there is know that IBB,GMB and Atiku abubakar are the major sole foundations of Boko haram and it's sponsors in Nigeria.

They established what spiralled out of control and became a whirl wind with foreign terrorists from Mali,Senegal,Niger, cameroun,Libya etc
Again GMB in his regime left open the Northern borders so these Fulani terrorists can swarm into Nigeria to overtake Nigeria.
It all failed and will continue to fail.
The local residents and the villagers only became sympathetic to the terrorists cause because of the abject poverty and enticements that they have been through.

This is why you must be very careful about campaign promises as a politician.
Don't promise what you will never fufil and then the citizens become angry and will be swayed to anti Government policies which are temporarily supportive to their poverty.

Yes the ISWAP and BHT live among the people
