xcitedjay:I usually don’t drive it aggressively. I even put on ECON mode to see if there would be an improvement in mileage. It’s still been the same. I scanned it December last year, and got the Evap code, which I changed the Evap canister. It still didn’t give me much improvement. And the main reason I went for the civic was for the fuel economy. |

austin4real:Mine too has the EVAP code, my guess is that it's due to our Nigerian fuel. Try out the other recommendations. Your vehicle shouldn't be consuming that much fuel. The attached picture is my consumption for about approximately 20miles of highway driving a few minutes ago. 45.8mpg

@luvinghubby Hello Sir, I'm thinking of getting tokunbo replacement for my front and rear shock absorbers (Honda Accord 2003 inline 4). Any pro tips on where to get good ones will be appreciated. **Note: I had a bad experience with brand new shocks years ago, as they failed within six months or so. I had to put my original shocks back on after this (and realised they were not so bad, probably due to how terribly the new ones failed). I've used the original 'follow-comes' for 13 years now altogether. Cheers! |

Hello gurus in the house, Please I need you input and explanation. (2007 Honda Accord 4 plugs) Looking at the images attached, does my car consume fuel, because I no even understand the consumption thing and the calculation. From Egbeda to VI, Monday to Friday (Movement is between 5.30am and 4pm), I buy around 60k + fuel every week for my 2007 Honda Accord 4 plugs (with 4 passengers on both trips and without AC) This morning just before leaving the house, I reset the TRIP A and TRIB B on the odometer to zero and also the Trip computer in the cars Navigation screen to zero. When I got to VI, the Odometer is showing 24.7 but the Trip computer is showing 40.4km.....why is there disparity in the trip calculator? Also, is the car consuming fuel? Please help me understand the TRIP A and B meaning After scanning the car, the only error code is the radiator thermostat. Please help.

remi4ever:This happened to my car and I just changed engine seat and everything went fine. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by remi4ever(m): 5:51am On Jan 24, 2025 |
joromii:Interesting. My engine seats seem fine. I changed on all except the ones at the back and front of the engine, but then I'll check again. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Sheuns(m): 8:48am On Jan 24, 2025 |
nas00:Buy brand new shocks. Tokunbo no go pay. There’s a guy that sells new shocks on NL here. But they’re costly. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by nurey(m): 10:05am On Jan 24, 2025 |
kelvinmnet:The in car nav system is in KM while your trip meter is in MPH. to convert MPH to KM just multiply it by 1.6 your avg fuel consumption the 12.1L/100km is though a bit high for your vehicle but due to age, type of pms we have in naija and road conditions, it is manageable. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 10:47am On Jan 24, 2025 |
joromii:Are you sure your case was as his own? He said his own RPM's dropped to around 500, does your own idle RPM sit below 600rpm right now with your replaced engine mounts? If you're running on such low rpms it's not ideal for the engine but I seriously doubt you would be having a happy drive with anything below 700 as your idle rpms |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 10:49am On Jan 24, 2025 |
nurey:That's just 3mpg shy of it's factory default. It's truly normal for the age of the engine |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by joromii: 9:11pm On Jan 24, 2025 |
Conner44:No my idle RPM is like 850 there about but I use to have that issue. I service that throttle body same time I changed the engine seats
|
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 10:13pm On Jan 24, 2025 |
joromii:Okay. Maybe the throttle body service was what you mainly needed for the fix and the new engine mount was the icing on the cake ![]() In his own case, it's like he has good engine mounts but a very low idle RPM |

Good morning everyone I just got my car serviced, the belt was replaced and it got really noisy. It was also doing hard start. Now the hard start was being worked on by cleaning the plugs and fuel pump. Turned on the car this morning and lights full everywhere. Brake light isn't going off even when the hand brake is down, ABS is light is on, VCR light is on, airbag light is on. Fuel light is on (but the fuel is near empty so understandable). The car is an '08 Honda accord Please is there a proper Honda Accord mechanic. I'm tired of trial and error mechanics. |

Hello guys, Pls my 08 Honda Civic (I-robot) is running rich (consuming fuel) at 12.1 - 12.3L/100km and smoking a bit. The smoke is not visible but one can smell it and there's some black soot in the exhaust. The issue started over 2 months ago. My usual consumption used to range from 9.8 - 10.2L/100km till the the problem started. There's no check engine light and no codes. Scanned myself and an electrician also did. Both upstream and downstream O2 sensors, catalytic converter and MAF sensor in place. I've changed complete set of plugs twice. Used the common NGK the first time, and used one Belgium set the second time. On both occasions, I got improvements of only about 0.1L/100km. My exhaust has been checked and they said no leaks. I also told mech to change my pressure regulator (returner). There was no change. The only significant change I made to the car before this issue started was changing the oil from the common Mobil 20/50 the former owner used to Castrol GTX 5/20 as recommended by Honda. Oil level has not dropped and there are no leaks. The problem is frustrating because the car has been a really good car since I bought it till this issue started. And I no ready to dey save for engine replacement now. Please help. |
