The South East Youth Stakeholders Forum, a group of representatives of various youth organisations across the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to release from incarceration the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The group which convened an emergency meeting on Saturday, after in-depth discussions on the prevailing issues affecting the South East Region, appealed for Presidential Intervention in the long incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. “We appeal to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the father of the nation and a detribalised Nigerian to direct the Attorney General of the Federation to discontinue the prosecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to pave the way for his release from incarceration. “This we believe is a critical step toward resolving the persistent security challenges in the South East. We believe that his release will end the insecurity that has bedeviled the southeast region, foster genuine reconciliation, and reduce tensions within the southeast region,” the group assured. In a communique by representatives of the five states in the southeast led by the Chairman representing Enugu State, Mazi Ezenwa Onyirimba, the group insisted that Kanu’s release will create a conducive environment for constructive dialogue and engagement with some youths from the southeast who took up arms against the State.https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/01/south-east-youths-beg-tinubu-to-release-nnamdi-kanu/amp/ 5 Likes

 Anyway, the SE youths are just typical Nigerians. Nigerians love to defend their bad people. I can still remember how a group of Northern leaders went to beg Obasanjo for the release of one Mohammed Abacha...the man who in open court excused his father's looting (which he may have been involved in, allegedly, and I stress allegedly)...on the grounds that he kept the money for Nigerians....and who may have been involved in torturing some political prisioners under his father's rule.(allegedly). Or the time Yoruba leaders went to beg Buhari for Igboho...who was 1) a thug 2) arms enough to equip a small army were found in his house 3) threatened the sancitiy of our nation. I won't mention the chap who was responsible for the unnecessary death of 5 police officers in 1999, and who is now titled and bejewelled. And of course, all those corrupt politicans we loved to beg for, and so forth. Or someone who said an attack on a group of armed latter day robin hoods was an attack on his region, and then years later some of those merry men decleded to thank him for his defence by threatening him with RPG's. During the festive period no less. If we break up this country, this nonsense is going to continue. We better wake up. Right now Rwanda is bossing around a country that is many times larger than it...simply because that country played around with corruption and letting bad people go for decades. Kanu must first show proof that he is apologetic and ashamed of his iniquities. Then he must tender and unreserved apology for his crimes and show that he’s repentant and promise to be law-abiding going forward.
