Troops Foil Insurgent Attack in Kawuri, Konduga

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai deployed in Kawuri, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, have successfully repelled an insurgent attack launched from the Sambisa Forest in the early hours of Tuesday.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the battle, which lasted for about two hours, ended with the insurgents retreating after suffering heavy casualties.

The source said reinforcement troops encountered an ambush on their way to support their colleagues but swiftly cleared the area, enabling them to join the ongoing operation.

In a show of solidarity, the Commander of 21 Special Armoured Brigade visited the troops after the encounter, commending their bravery and urging them to remain steadfast in their duties.

The Commander also visited the family of a victim who lost their life to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the insurgents during the attack. He assured the family of the military’s support while emphasizing the need to sustain troop morale.

“The battle is not over yet. You must all remain vigilant and prepared for any eventuality,” the Commander was quoted as saying during his address to the troops.

Bello Turji Frees All Captives Amid Intensified Military Pressure

In a surprising turn of events, notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has reportedly released all individuals held captive by his group. The development comes amid heightened military operations aimed at capturing the fugitive and dismantling his network in Zamfara State and surrounding regions.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that Turji’s decision to free the captives is linked to the intense pressure mounted by the Nigerian Armed Forces under Operation Hadarin Daji and Operation Forest Sanity. Recent airstrikes and ground offensives targeting his hideouts in Fakai, Shinkafi, and surrounding areas have significantly weakened his group, forcing them into retreat.

The release of the captives is being seen as a strategic move by Turji to avoid further escalation or a direct confrontation with security forces who have been closing in on him.

The troops have vowed to get him whether “Dead or Alive.
DHQ confirmed the report

Troops Neutralize Bello Turji’s Second-in-Command, Key Commanders in Northwest Offensive

The Nigerian Armed Forces have dealt a significant blow to the notorious terrorist network led by Bello Turji in the Northwest region of the country. In an ongoing military operation codenamed Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops neutralized Turji’s second-in-command, Aminu Kanawa, along with several key commanders and close allies.

According to a statement released by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, the operation was carried out between Jan. 20 and 21, targeting terrorist hideouts across Sokoto and Zamfara states.

“Troops successfully neutralized Aminu Kanawa, the second-in-command to Bello Turji, and inflicted terminal injuries on Dosso (Bello Turji’s younger brother) and Danbokolo, one of Turji’s closest allies. Additionally, several commanders, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe, were neutralized,” the statement read.

The operation also resulted in the elimination of over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp in the Gebe and Isa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Sokoto State, as well as the Gidan Rijiya area in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State.

In a separate encounter around the Fakai high ground, troops neutralized Suleiman, a loyalist of the late terrorist leader Halilu Sububu. Suleiman, who was leading a reinforcement team to rescue Turji’s camp, was killed during a firefight.

Major General Buba described the neutralization of Turji’s second-in-command, his close allies, and several key commanders as a significant setback to the terrorist network. He noted that the group had been responsible for numerous kidnappings and attacks across the Northwest, particularly in Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni LGAs of Zamfara and Sokoto states.

“Troops remain resolute in their mission to completely dismantle these terrorist groups and create an atmosphere of safety and security for all citizens,” Buba stated.

Why didn't you post these for example. Both recent pics?

Because it doesn't suit what you are saying?
First of all, you want to compare this pics with the old AFSF with the recent DHQSOF in terms of better equipmet/gearing or those DRC SF.

secondly, the 1st & 3rd pics are NN/NAF SOF you could tell by there weapons, forget about the NA crest on the MRAP !

The 2nd pic of NA SOF is still not up a basic gearing for SOF, we are retrogressing In terms of proper gearing for SOF & G.Is.

Lt. Col. T.E. Alari, a Fearless Leader and Defender of the Nation

In the face of unparalleled danger, there are individuals who embody the true essence of courage, leadership, and sacrifice. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari was one such man a gallant officer who stood as a bulwark against terror, giving his life so others might live in peace.

The Commanding Officer of the 149 Battalion, Lt. Col. Alari, was a nightmare to insurgents. His resolute determination and strategic brilliance in combat had dealt devastating blows to the ranks of ISWAP, earning him a reputation as a fearless leader who did not shy away from leading from the front. His name struck fear into the hearts of terrorists, and his presence on the battlefield inspired confidence among his troops.

On Jan. 24, 2025, while leading an operation in the Timbuktu Triangle, a bastion of terrorist activity in Damboa, Lt. Col. Alari once again demonstrated the true essence of leadership. Under his command, the 149 Battalion had successfully disrupted insurgent strongholds, neutralizing scores of terrorists and forcing them into retreat. But in a desperate last ditch effort, ISWAP insurgents deployed a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) against his troops.

The VBIED was intercepted and destroyed by the troops, but the shrapnel from the explosion tragically took the lives of those closest to the blast, including Lt. Col. Alari, who, as always, was at the front, leading his men. Even in the face of certain death, his bravery remained unwavering a true testament to his character.

Lt. Col. Alari was not just a soldier; he was a protector, a mentor, and a patriot. His relentless pursuit of justice and his commitment to the safety of his country will forever be remembered. He epitomized the qualities of a selfless leader always prioritizing the wellbeing of his troops and the mission above his own safety.

Beyond the battlefield, Lt. Col. Alari was a devoted son, husband, and father. His family, though bereaved, can take solace in the legacy he leaves behind a legacy of valor, service, and love for his nation.

As Nigeria mourns the loss of one of its finest, we must honor his memory by continuing the fight he so bravely led. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari’s sacrifice will not be in vain. His name will forever be etched in the annals of history as a hero who stood against terror and gave his all for his country.

Rest in peace, gallant soldier. Nigeria owes you a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

UPDATE ON TERRORIST ATTACK ON TROOPS IN THE TIMBUKTU TRIANGLE

1. On 16 January 2025, troops of Operation HADIN KAI commenced operation DESERT SANITY IV as part of a wider measure to completely defeat the terrorists in the North East Region. In the course of the operation, troops dislodged terrorists from their enclaves in Jemyeri, Abulam, Agum and Digamari. Troops further stormed ISWAP training camp at Garin Baban Alhassan, destroyed the camp and neutralized 18 including 3 notorious commanders identified as Talha, the ISWAP women leader, Mallam Umar the RPG trainer and Abu Yazeed the ISWAP Brigade Commander in the Timbuktu Triangle.
On 22 January 2025 at about 2:40pm, troops of 199 SF Bn, Combat Teams 6 and 8 married up at Gardiri for the final onslaught on the notorious terrorist enclave. As precursor operations, troops cleared terrorist camps at Burbur, Lamisuri, Kassachia and Buk destroying all life supporting structures within these strongholds. It is worthy to state that the terrorists were placed on the backfoot as they were on the run all through seeking to find new hideouts within the Timbuktu Triangle.

2. Due to the pressure on the terrorists and a sign of desperation and last resort, on 24 January 2025 at about 7:10pm, the terrorists cowardly rammed into troops at their harbor position with a Vehicle Borne IED at Gardiri base killing a Commanding Officer, 2 officers and some of our very brave men while injuring 20 others. Conversely and conservatively too, the troops neutralised more than 60 of the terrorists during the one week long operation . Also, 14 AK 47 rifles, 6 RPG tubes, 18 motorcycles and 24 AK 47 magazines were recovered by our gallant warriors.

3. Based on this development, a comprehensive review of the operation is being carried out to enable a re-launch. Meanwhile, It is pertinent to set the records straight that there was no terrorist activity at Malam Fatori which led to casualty on own troops as widely circulated in some media outlets by mischief makers. The only recorded incident occurred at the Timbuktu Triangle in Damboa LGA of Borno State as narrated earlier . The media report making the rounds is therefore fake, baseless and should be disregarded.

4. May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in perfect peace. Amen. Adieu gallant warriors!

M23 rebels have taken control of the city of Goma in DR Congo. Reports suggest that Rwanda forces are in support of the rebels.

DR Congo has a population of 110 million, compared to Rwanda's smaller population of only 14 million. To following days is going to be interesting!

I dislike Kagame, the skinny runt. But I'll say one thing for that minor tropical thug, he has played a superb power game. He made his dictatorship and his country indispensable to France, the UK, the US and Germany by:-
1) using his AU chairmanship to get Morocco re-admitted to the AU;
2) tightly embracing Israel and like that country, shamelessly exploiting the memory of genocide to slaughter innocents;
3) filling the French void in the CAR;
4) deploying his troops as security guards for French commercial interests in Moz; and
5) cosying up to the UK by trying to legitimise their illegal refugee scheme.

All of that as chits to call in when he decides, like Israel, to expand and create Greater Rwanda. 3 veto holding members of the Security Council owe him. The 2 main EU countries owe him. Unlike back in 2012, this latest invasion of the DRC will not be condemned by the West.
And just in case the West gets flaky, he's lined up Turkey, Saudi and UAE too.
He's played his hand brilliantly.

BTW, he's soon to play in West Africa too, Benin to be precise.

1) Rwandan soldiers, NOT security officers;
2) Congolese customs border guards NOT Armed forces of the DRC;
3) Rwandan invasion of DRC NOT fighting.

Vast difference for those of us who read for meaning.

I've crossed that border post a few times and the Rwandan security officers there wear blue uniforms, not the military uniforms of the Rwanda military.
On the Congolese side, the Customs guards wear that cammo, yes, but they are not soldiers and they only have sidearms. 1000m away there's a FARDC checkpoint with soldiers in different uniforms with assault rifle etc.

Some of us know the difference between customs officials at a border post, and soldiers. And we know when invaders are trying to justify their aggression and propaganda.
I hope this has been educative enough for you.

He’s not indispensable. He’s just not a priority. For two reasons:

Interventionism has taken the back seat. US and Europe are a bit more focused at home right now. Immigration and economy are hot topics atm.

As you mentioned he’s friend to both his western partners and the Russia, Chinese and co. It doesn’t mean he has any leverage economically or politically, it just means that foreign powers won’t spend any time starting a fight with someone who hasn’t been hostile to them at all.
