3 months far. They are already regretting it. The first to regret it are Hispanic population who voted for him. The next will be independence cos the price of manual labor is about to skyrocket. Go thru homedepoet or Lowes parking lot and you will see no Latino out there looking for quick work. Those laborer offer cheap labor with no benefits and do jobs most Americans will not do. I have a truck repair business and the most hardest thing in staying in business is finding reliable help. Jokers does not want to work. Hire a Mexican or other South Americans, they will work their tail off compare to ordinary American who want all the benefits and has problem showing to work on time.
Foreigners who commit crimial.offence should be deported and the border needs to be secure but deporting everyone will create a labor shortage cos thkse people take up jobs Americans don't want.
"Everyone" was not deported.

The news says illegal immigrants....ESPECIALLY those with criminal records. Legal migrants can stay back and continue their usual lives.

Blame your government who wants to join BRICS.
They should start asking China and Russia to give them the AID.
TONYE001:
I've worked with an international HIV-care-delivering NGO; I know the implication of this piece of news...and nope, I'm not celebrating it. It is indeed a sad day for our PLHIVs, their relatives, and the government as the burden of the disease is about to skyrocket.

The above is true.

But it is also true that Trump did not do anything wrong in this decision. It is not the responsibility of America to care for our sick. The man is simply prioritizing his country and citizens, and I honestly admire his moves...right from his first term as president.

We must maintain objectivity. It's hypocritical that our government take antagonizing positions in international policies as regards the USA, many of us have negative thoughts towards the country...and in the same breath, we want to continue benefiting from their policy. Why?

Our leaders and their corrupt heads should be held responsible for their longstanding failure to care for their sick populations.
I agree it's hypocritical to be cussing out America while seeking their help (instead of seeking it from Russia), but I beg to differ with your entire post.

1. Rich nations have always helped poorer nations, so Mr Trump has done something wrong. Note that there is a national interest component to foreign aid because it's how you maintain soft power, something Trump clearly doesn't get. Withdrawing help from poor and vulnerable people (which will worsen your refugee and immigration problems anyway) is unconscionable. Yes, it's the responsibility of our government to care for our sick, but we both they aren't going to do it. Even if they want to, the money is just not there. So this hurts the sick and vulnerable, not government people.

2. It's true that anti-Americanism is common in these parts but so is pro-Americanism. There is no evidence that any Nigerian government since 1999 has been overtly anti-American. They've all done their best to maintain a healthy relationship with the US. I thought the BRICS thing was a mistake, but that's a minor issue. Tinubu has been careful not to personally attend their functions (he sends his vice) or apply for full membership. BRICS isn't the reason for this action anyway. It's what Trump wanted and was bound to happen.

I laugh many a times when people on this forum be claiming US doesn't render aid for free and that they're getting back from these countries.

My question used to be what are they getting from Nigeria that is worth the billions they pump into this country annually.

Now they've got a president who doesn't give an F about others and just wanna MAGA everybody is criticizing him.

He has only temporarily stopped funding for HIV pepfar project, if they decide to cut funding by 50% across board, body go really tell Nigerians, at that time we go know say Tinubu policy never really show people shege.

For all the rubbish USA do across the world, they give back in proportionate/more measure to a lot of other countries

When people speak the truth, you people declare them as haters because your man is in power and it affects your political narrative. Can we do better?

Can you boldly state here that your mum can access basic primary health care in your LGA without stress or without her being told to pay for drugs that have been donated for by NGOs and aids from these foreign donors?

Can your relatives get free mosquito nets from any government hospital? Oya show where you and your family go to get access to these medical aids that have been provided by these donors. I dey wait.

You rather ass lick your favourite politicians who are taking their families abroad for treatment after plunging our health sector as they do the educational sector.

God forgive y'all

Many documented HIV patients not on record but these pharmacists were taking the drugs off the stores and selling to rich people that were ashamed to come and queue to get the medications like others.

One of the biggest problems with this is not just that people will stop getting their medications due to the fund being pulled away. It’s that the chances of the HIV virus mutating is now very high.

Trust me viruses do not acknowledge national borders. The mutated virus will spread across the world even when the medications are only stopped in developing countries.

I’m sure one or two scientists would’ve tried to explain this to him but they can’t. Because he abhors scientific knowledge and hates anyone challenging his ideas even if he’s wrong.

You people that rejoiced when he won because he told you two genders will solve the world’s problems. I hope you’re ready to bury your friends and relatives. If only some people tried to warn you!

1. Rich nations helping poorer countries is not an obligatory arrangement or agreement. It's entirely up to them to decide to continue providing help, or not. My point is, Trumps citizens have got major problems. I see nothing wrong if he has decided to reroute funds to prioritize his citizens. I don't get why people are blaming the man, honestly. Do note, however, that this is just HIV and related issues. Our country still enjoys other aids from the USA.

2. I honestly don't think Trump's decision, or series of decisions, in the past few days are hit backs at anti-Americanistic societies or groups. Sincerely, I do think these are frank efforts to ensure his citizens become and remain priority.

They hate bill gates too. They think he’s trying to wipe their population out. Even though he’s been helping them for decades and they’ve done nothing but multiply during those decades.

He’s the Antichrist for some reason. Yet though their kids are walking and not in iron lungs today courtesy of Bill Gates.

I think maybe he should pull back too. Let these ignoramuses resort to calling on Jesus without any follow up action and see what happens. Because God does answer their prayers too humans and they turn around to vilify those who help them.

This means that Antiretroviral drugs that's almost free of charge would experience a significant increase in price. And considering how the economy is, most people might not be able able to afford it for a long period of time.

Imagine spending between 50k-100k every month on Antiretroviral drugs for the rest of your life.

This is not the time to be randy. Stick to your spouse or abstain from sex if you're single.
Now 3months for one plastic container. If you know this HIV thing, you go see say na wash. In 2014, they came up with a program, 90,90,90, to end HIV by 2020.Now, they have extended the program 95,95,95,to end it 2030.

Do you think it's going to end by 2030 or they may extend the program to 2040 on 97,97,97 and so on, if they don't release a cure before then!!!

Healthcare workers are cashing out big time on the funds. And you expect them to stop it? NO. At the long run, ARV will not be free and wouldn't be expensive, too. It would be available and cheap like condoms and paracetamol.

I was shocked seeing Nigeria joining a selfish group like BRICS, despite all the benefits we get from US, Nigeria should be the last country to join a rival association. Most people have no idea the amount of help developing countries like ours in Africa get from US.

They aren't joining BRICS to rival and weaken the US. You guys are funny. They are joining BRICS to slowly wean themselves from their sole dependence on the US.

RE: Columbian government officials' assets domiciled in the US were seized/restricted access to, and their family members' too. Does that make any sense to you?

With BRICS, in similar ways, they want to be able to have their assets in multiple currencies for example and trade with any other country without any toddler in power in the US pettying up and restricting their assets or their family members'.

Think about companies too that were a competitor to US's companies and in their own local economies, bullied by the US.

US stopping funding is a correct call in the comity of diplomats as they'd slowly have zero diplomatic ties with the US and zero reasons to expect to spend dollars or pick whatever calls from the US. Trump is actually helping BRICS and the de-dollarization agenda.

Perhaps, later, there'd be no more free passes for their illegal/exploitative miners in Congo DRC, or in Bolivia, or in whatever countries they held much exploitative powers on...

Hunny republicans have been wanting to cut this for years. Only democrats in power have helped keep it going. Last fiscal year they all voted against it. It passed with a slim majority on the democratic vote and that is why African countries were able to get aid last year.
If you think trump will reinstate it after this executive order, you’re mistaken.

The democrats you’ve been calling demonic have been the ones helping your population. The only reason you hate them is because they help you and also help other marginalized groups who you believe don’t deserve to live. A lot of you in that country are ignorant and hateful and it shows.

I get the point about supporting Trump’s decision to halt HIV funding for Nigeria. The fraud in the sector is frustrating, with many corrupt individuals benefiting while the funds don’t reach the people who truly need them. It’s unfair to American taxpayers who genuinely intended to help. That said, cutting the funding completely might hurt millions of innocent Nigerians relying on the program for life-saving treatment. A better approach would be stricter oversight and accountability to ensure the funds go where they’re needed, rather than punishing everyone for the actions of a few.

This reminds me of a conversation between a rich doctor and poor guy during the campaign.
Poor guy: Trump will lower my taxes.
Rich doctor: No, you idiot. He will lower MY taxes and cut YOUR benefits.

Trump is not even prioritizing citizens. Well, not poor citizens. Something else is going on. Note he's been targeting the Affordable Care Act (which they call "Obama Care" ) since his first term. He's simply taking and taking from the vulnerable, starting with the vulnerable of America.

Yes, giving is the prerogative of the giver. It's not obligatory. You choose what to do with what you own and no legal argument can be made against you. However, we can and will always make a moral argument. That is why, sometimes when some Americans go on and on and about how they're the biggest contributor to global agencies, they are reminded that some other countries contribute far more than them by PROPORTION. I don't know if you're rich, but does not being rich and having problems of your own mean you don't assist poorer relatives, friends or church members? That's how it is.
