Hello everyone. I need you're advice. Due to how long the preapproaval stayed I missed my program start date for spring semester. Although I have deferred to fall semester, do I just go for the interview with both my old and new I-20. Or do I have to pay another MRV Fee and start the entire process again. I appreciate any guidance or advice you can offer. |

If your visa application is still valid, you do not need to pay the MRV fee again or start the entire process from scratch. The DS-160 form is valid for one year, and the MRV fee receipt is also typically valid for one year from the payment date. Bring both your old and new I-20 forms to your visa interview. Ensure that your SEVIS record has been updated by your school to reflect your new program start date. chiammaka: |

Hello Everyone, I need help. I've made MRV payment since November through FBNonline and it's yet to be validated till now. I can't access the appointment scheduling platform. I've raised tickets, sent emails to Nigeria@avits and lagosNIV@state, called the customer care and used the chat box. They all promised to escalate and I can't see the result. Please who knows how this can be resolved. Thank you. |

I'm having the same issue. Only promises of escalation anytime I managed to speak with an agent but nothing is being done yet. osadestiny: |

You don't need to be scared, your chances of visa approval for an F-1 student visa depend on how well you can address the key concerns of the consular officer during your visa interview. 1. Explain the transition in your career/profession. 2. Why Murray State University 3. Your sister-in-law’s sponsorship should be well-documented. 4. Since you are traveling with your spouse and children, the consular officer may wonder if you plan to stay permanently in the U.S. In this, you will need to demonstrate strong home ties such as property ownership, financial commitments, or family responsibilities(extended family). 5. Emphasize your plan to return home after completing your studies. 6. If possible, highlight your job or career plans in Nigeria post-graduation. 7. Show how the program is a logical progression from your legal career to public admin. CONCERN 1. Be prepared to explain the relationship and why your sister-in-law is sponsoring you and not your immediate family or yourself. This is a Non-immediate support/sponsor. 2. The officer will ask why you’re taking your family along. A good response would be to explain that having your family with you will provide emotional support while you focus on your studies, but emphasize your intention to return home after graduation. 3. Large family accompanying you, the consular officers may see this as a sign of intent to settle in the U.S. You will need strong evidence of home ties and a clear study plan. a. Practice mock interviews to build confidence. b. Stay calm and positive during the interview. c. Be truthful, consistent, and concise in your responses. It will end in praise Zanemom: |

Thanks so much JMG, for your prompt reply. Where my fear lies is in my choice of masters program. They might think my undergraduate course and my choice of masters program is unrelated. Is my sister inlaw sponsoring not advisable? She is my husband eldest sister. |

I have outlined 3 concerns for you. You need to consider these areas and how to defend it. Do not overlook it. Zanemom: |

Hello Guys, Trust you're having a great day. I recently went for my US Visa Interview on the 17th January with an I-20 that had my program start date in the 13th January. The interview went smooth, the VO did not have any issues with my responses to questions asked. At the end of the interview I was given the white slip but it was recalled because of the start date of my program, she asked I send the embassy an updated I-20 via email which has a new start date, she gave me a form with the email address and some other information. She also mentioned that I do not need to book another Visa appointment interview, stating I just need to send the updated I-20 and instructions would be given on how to proceed with the Visa. I have requestd for a deferal to Fall semester so the new I-20 can have an updated start date, I am still working on getting the new I-20 from the school and it's almost two weeks since my Interview. Is there a deadline to send in the new I-20 form to the embassy? If you have any similar experience or advice please share. Thank you |

jameskenn101:Congratulations on your visa approval. I can't answer your question. could you share your profile please and perhaps some of the questions you were asked? You should omit any information that might reveal your identity of course. Thank you. |

I already got a date before my old i20 expired due to resumption date which was before the interview date , hence I had to ask my school for a new i20 after deferring for fall semester. kamsy101: |

jameskenn101:based on my own knowledge. Approved visa on this situation can not be revoked at least in 6months max. but nevertheless, call your school to hasten up with the issuance of the 120 form. |

easydrizzle:Easydrizzle, from this last guy situation it seems you can go for interview with already gone date in the form120. meaning i will have to book for interview then. |
