Good. I was discussing a similar issue with someone yesterday. How will a secondary school graduate not know how to make or assemble a capacitor for fans?

Secondary school students offering science courses should be working to build science projects like capacitors for fans. It could be in the form of working with a company to build capacitors. They should earn a wage that will go into offering them free education. By the time they are done with their secondary education, they will have the confidence and ability to create amazing things...

While Nigeria will benefit from the exportation and sales of those things created.

That was my submission.

Which standard? Have you been to any of the vocational schools to know if they are of standard or not?
The government is trying to encourage technical and vocational skills with free education tuition, you are there saying standard!
Please, mentioned standard ones you know and how do you arrived at your submission?

Dear Minister Maruf Tunji Alausa. Good thinking trying to revive that sector. But you don't need to pay them.

Furnish and equip the schools. Get good teachers for them - import teachers if you have to. Then come up with a ranking system for artisans - from apprentice to grandmaster. In fact, copy the German model. (In Germany, technicians are as respected as engineers.) These are more important that paying people to attend.

No plumber or electrician earns more than a doctor oooo. Minister, no dey disgrace your family ooooo. Truly artisans earns well, but not more than doctors. Don’t be unfortunate in life Minister, an Omoluabi should not be saying this nonsense even under influence of cannabis. Abi you want make Ogun kee your Mama ni?

Thus a welcome development. Technical skills are needed. The fact you are paid to learn will remove all our youths driving okada, kekenape etc to get skilled.

BIG FAT LIE. If it is true, several doctors and engineers would have dumped their profession to become Artisans. I have been here for few years and I have a good idea of what some of these professionals including artisans earn

Paying them is better because there poverty in the land and most youth don't want to learn hand work.

Truly, this technical persons make so much in Uk than many health professionals.

It doesn't need to be - what they need to do is set the ball rolling and cause more people to realize that these vocations can be lucrative too. The bigger problem I foresee is that many people will use these qualifications to japa, as vocational trades ae in high demand in made western countries. This may have positive and negative effects.

Once the discriminatory attitude against vocational and polytechnic education is removed,he doesn't need anybody to attend those schools.

Remove BSc/HND dichotomy, you could see enrollment in those schools will increase.

At the moment, you can't have progressive career in civil service and organized labour if you are not university graduate. And that's the reason there is mass upsurge to acquire university degree through any hook or crooked means.

The Minister knows,but Just pretending!
